Amateur Article Writing for Professional Results

May 22, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 84

As an online entrepreneur I know how important quality content can be to your success. You hear it all the time; "Write epic and relevant content and the heavens will open to you". There is truth and value in that statement, but how many entrepreneurs are professional writers?

How can the average entrepreneur with amateur article writing skills get professional results?Aside from shoveling out money on a regular basis to pay a professional for unique quality content, you either need to improve your writing skills or settle for less. I opt to settle for less. Don't get me wrong, I want to provide stellar content for my readers, but I have a voice of my own and that is what I want my readers to hear/see. It's the same information, just no $25 words and perfect grammar, it is much more realistic anyways.

The more I write, the more I learn and my writing style changes and hopefully improves, but believe it or not, my article writing clearly of amateur status has the potential for professional results and so does yours.

"The majority of people on the internet are of average intelligence with an average writing and reading level."

Think of This The majority of people on the internet are of average intelligence with an average writing and reading level. Sure epic content has great value and great potential, but average content that delivers the same information on a more down to earth scale is much more inline with the majority of people who will be reading your material.

It has been proven in studies that people better comprehend and retain written material that is formatted more closely with average natural speech patterns.

I should point out that in my opinion, there is a vast difference between amateur article writing and poor article writing. An amateur article will contain a valid message with quality information but will in most cases lack the professional shine such as grammar, formatting, extensive vocabulary, and even spelling. Poor articles may appear professional or amateur, but the message and information will be useless.

I myself am terrible at spelling and lack even the most basic grammar skills, but because of the power of word processors, I can get by as so should you.

Get The Most From Your Articles If you want professional results from your writing, then you need to focus on 4 simple things that any amateur can do.

  • The Message - Your writings must make a clear point and deliver a message.
  • The Information - Make sure the information in your content is not only valid, but relevant and of good quality.
  • Variety - Have a variety of messages in a variety of places. Your website and your favorite article directory are not the only places you should be publishing your content. There are several article directories, content networks, and guest postings available that you should not overlook.
  • Quantity - The internet is infinite in size and a single article can easily get buried and lost forever, don't waste the opportunity to put more of your content out there to be found by both human visitors and search engine crawlers.

Focusing on these 4 simple things can get you professional results for your amateur writing. Remember, amateur does not mean rubbish, the information is still good but you are not going to win any Pulitzer Prize either.

Hint Human readers are not your only audience, search engines love content and they could care less who wrote it, professional, amateur, or caveman.

I am an entrepreneur not a writer, but that does not stop me from trying. I have 13+ years experience of doing business on the internet. I watched the bubble grow, pop, and steam it's way into the web 2.0 we are seeing today. I invest my time in domain investing, product creation, internet marketing, web design, and putting my spell checker to good use.
