Are Virtual PBX Services Cost-Effective?

May 28, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 185

Yes! One of the major reasons why any home business or start-up, uses one of these online solutions for their business communications, is the low cost. This is especially true when you compare this cost to the "real world" alternative. Installing all the phone lines and hardware, plus the cost of hiring a real "human" receptionist can be quite expensive, even if you're not on a limited budget.

However, most start-ups and home businesses, are on a strict budget and funds are always limited. So one way to cut costs is to go with a virtual PBX system to handle all your incoming and outgoing messages. Many services will also let you have a virtual receptionist to handle these calls and forward your messages.

PBX stands for "Private Branch Exchange" and as mentioned before, it is a very convenient system to handle all your business communications. A virtual PBX system simply means your exchange or service is hosted on a third party company, far removed from the actual location of your business or company. This is a form of "cloud computing" where these services are "outsourced" to a provider which specializes in this area.

These providers are extremely professional and will reflect the same professionalism on your business, no matter how small your operation. In this regard, we have the second most important (besides the low cost) reason many start-ups use this type of online service - it will make your business look more professional in the eyes of your clients and potential customers.

It is a "virtual" solution to all your business communications and can be quite effective in acquiring and keeping your clients happy. It is a modern solution to the age-old front office, which most businesses ran in the not so distant past. In this light, it will bring your business into the modern era, one obsessed with cell phones, blackberries, netbooks and every other wireless gadget you can think of or Google up.

Keep in mind, most of these virtual PBX providers offer a whole variety of services such as call forwarding, voice mail, online fax... as well as a virtual receptionist in some cases. There are many providers which offer these PBX services in return for a small monthly fee. RingCentral comes immediately to mind, but there are many others such as MyFax, eFax... all offering these professional services.

Regardless of which provider you choose, using a virtual PBX system can be very efficient and cost-effective way to handle all your business communications. This goes doubly true, if you're a small operation with one or two employees, because you can project a "big company" image without wasting or spending large amounts of money. It can be the perfect solution for any home business, but like all these decisions, it's your call?
