Want To Lose It Or Keep It?

At it's most basic, losing weight is about burning more calories than you eat. That seems simple enough, but if were really that simple, none of us would have a weight problem. Too often we take drastic measures to see results -- diets, pills or those weird fitness gadgets on infomercials that promise instant success.

Maybe you lose weight but what happens when you go off that diet or stop that crazy workout program? You gain it all back and more. The real secret to weight loss is to make small, lasting changes. The key is to forget about instant results and settle in for the long run.

Eating a healthy, balanced meals is an important part of maintaining good health, and can help you feel your best.If you eat or drink too much, you'll put on weight. Most adults are eating more calories than they need, and should eat fewer calories. Eat a wide range of foods to ensure that you're getting a balanced diet and that your body is receiving all the nutrients it needs.

Minimizing unhealthy snacks is also a good idea. People tend to eat when they're bored, and this is very important to weight loss. Eat only when hungry and minimize your unhealthy snacks between meals.

Exercise is a key component in any weight loss program, but it can be confusing to figure out how much you need and where to start. You should start slowly with a basic cardio program and a full body resistance training routine. You'll want to have recovery days to allow your body to rest and your muscles to heal from your new routine. A typical beginner program will include about 3 days of cardio and 2 days of strength training.

When setting up your routine, you may need to experiment to find a schedule that works for you. Just remember, you don't want to work the same muscles two days in a row, although you can do cardio on consecutive days.

Good sleep is critical for general health and mental well-being, and you are much more likely to succeed with any weight loss plan by making sure you get proper rest.

Drinking more water may help, such as having a glass of water before each meal to reduce appetite.
