Reasons You Should Consider Using Hosted VoIP Solutions for Your Starter Business

June 06, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 116

Communication is important for any business endeavor. You need a good phone system to stay in touch with your different offices, business partners or affiliates, and customers. Some of the best types of communication are hosted VoIP solutions. VoIP, or Voice over Internet Protocol, involves transmitting voice communications over the internet. Other terms for VoIP include internet telephony, IP telephony, or broadband telephony.

Using VoIP for your business communications has many advantages. The most prominent benefit of VoIP systems are their lower costs. Having a traditional phone system installed in your office can really burn a hole in your finances, especially if you're just starting out. Some features of VoIP that can help you save on costs include:

Inexpensive Long-Distance Calls

Placing long-distance calls or shouldering toll-free calls for your consumers may cost your company a lot of money. Making calls using your own VoIP system is often cheaper, and you can even use computer-based VoIP services, like Skype, free of charge.

No Need for Expensive Phone Hardware

Some of the more advanced VoIP systems require you to purchase a corresponding piece of hardware. This isn't necessary if you're using a free VoIP system. All you need is a computer, a stable internet connection, and a headset. You don't need to install additional hardware or wiring to use a basic VoIP system if you have these three things.

Multiple Calls on a Single Internet Connection

Most basic phone lines allow your office to handle one call at a time. While this is okay for when you're just starting to gather your bearings, it may prove disadvantageous when your business starts to grow. Using a VoIP system, you can handle multiple calls on a single broadband connection. This prevents you from missing important business calls or losing clients.

Useful Add-Ons

Many hosted VoIP solution providers offer a few add-ons and applications to enhance your business communications. These include:

- Caller ID - Identifies your callers before your agents answer the call. - Voicemail - Allows your callers to leave a message when you aren't available to answer the call. - Call Forwarding - Enables your agents to transfer or forward calls to extensions or other offices. - Contact Lists - Lets you store important numbers and names so you can easily retrieve them later. - Network Security - Prevents unauthorized phone calls or infiltration from the outside.

Multimedia Support

You can transfer more than just voice data over a VoIP phone system. You can send photos, videos, documents, and other important files to your employees or business partners while you speak to them. This is useful if you need to send reports or other important documents to someone outside your main office.

There are many other ways a hosted VoIP solution can help you start your business right. Find out exactly what your business needs in terms of communication, and search for the VoIP system that covers these needs.
