April 23, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 129

There are a lot of misconceptions about VoIP and here are 5 VoIP Myths Busted. This will clear any misconceptions that you may have about VoIP.

1. VoIP gives only minimal savings

Calls through VoIP are relatively cheaper compared to traditional phone lines. Companies who have switched to VoIP are able to save 50 percent as compared to the traditional phone service. VoIP even offers greater features without any additional costs. This is why businesses now prefer VoIP to traditional phone lines.

2. Voice quality is inferior and unacceptable

VoIP services are now far better than it was before. VoIP services are now able to sample voice at 16 kHz with even better compression algorithms. The nature of VoIP technology supports greater call quality. VoIP is designed to remove data interference. Before the signal is translated over the Internet, the analog voice signal is converted first to digital signal, thereby eliminating data interference. This prioritization of voice over data guarantees that you will get a high quality call.

3. VoIP services is only for large businesses and tech experts

It is true enough that VoIP was created by advanced thinking professionals of the tech sector but that does not mean VoIP is no longer suited for small businesses. In particular, small businesses rely more on mobility for their representatives, agents and employees. Compared to landline services, VoIP offers unparalleled scalability and flexibility, which was never available from landline services.

4. Difficult and costly set-up and management

This is one of the 5 VoIP Myths Busted that is clearly a misinformation. VoIP is the easiest phone system available to set up. It does not matter if it is basic, hosted or an integrated phone service. VoIP plans do not require any hardware on site so there is no need for a technician to visit. It is actually very simple. You already have an IT specialist on hand so you can maintain and improve your VoIP system on your own.

5. The new VoIP technology has a lot of trouble

Like any other innovation, businesses are fearful to change to the new methods. Until the simplicity of VoIP is known will they realize that this new technology will actually free them from the costly services they get from their old traditional landlines. Some VoIP services have developed a PBX that can handle simultaneously hundreds of users. For businesses, this means that larger groups of workers and the entire company are able to access an open source VoIP without looking back.

VoIP as compared to traditional phone lines is much more affordable. It even offers great features for free, no extra charge. Traditional phone lines charges any additional features to your bill. Some of the free calling features you get for free from VoIP are 3-way calling, caller ID, voicemail, call waiting and forwarding, call return and call block. Other features are also available.

These 5 VoIP Myths Busted should set all the misinformation straight; VoIP is affordable, simple and easy to manage.
