Van Ply Lining - A Sensible Investment

January 19, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 186

In order to increase the life, and resale value of your van, it needs to be kept maintained to a high standard. By carrying out a regular check list of items, you can help prevent unnecessary repairs due to premature wear and tear. One of the great ways to do this is by making the small investment of ply-lining the inside of your van. A van is probably the biggest investment a small company will make, and lining it properly can help to prevent unnecessary damage.

Lining with ply means having sections of plywood fixed to the interior of your cargo area, on the floor and the side panels. It's likely that any commercial vehicle is going to have large and heavy items put in it, and constant use will cause damage, no matter how careful you are. By fitting a plywood interior lining to a commercial vehicle, like a Ford Transit or Mercedes Sprinter, you can significantly protect it from the daily bumps and scrapes it's bound to accrue, and help to increase its working life.

Depending on the model of your commercial vehicle, most suppliers have pre-cut, measured and prepared kits, that make for an easy installation straight 'out of the box'. This also means that should an individual panel need replacing, it should be just as easy to remove. Of course, if you are good with your hands, you could buy and cut the panels yourself; this could save you some money, but obviously will take more time. With the lining installed, you are now ready to have any accessories added, to help with space saving and safety. Shelving or racking, window mesh or bars can be added to increase space, keep the area safe and improve security,

If you decide to sell your van, you will discover that ply lining has another advantage up its sleeve; by removing the panels, a potential buyer will get the impression that the vehicle is a good investment that's already been well taken care of. Most commercial vans, straight off the forecourt, do not have ply lining as standard, although more models are now being introduced with their own effective solutions in place.

Ply lining is a small investment that should be made, no matter the use of the vehicle. Prevention is always better than cure, and in the long run, ply lining will save you time and money, either by increasing the working life of the van or by increasing its value when its time to sell.
