Chrysler Town and Country Specifications

The Chrysler Town & Country is a 7-passenger minivan that has been produced since 1990. This minivan is part of a family of vans that still includes the Dodge Grand Caravan and at one-time two Plymouth models. The Chrysler Corporation pioneered the segment when its first models were released in 1983. Today, this segment is led by the Chrysler vans with Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Kia and Volkswagen also competing.

Engine and Transmission

A 3.6-liter V-6 engine powers every Town & Country model. This 24-valve engine makes 283 horsepower at 6,400 rpm and produces 260 foot-pounds of torque at 4,400 rpm. This engine has a 10.2 to 1 compression ratio and measures 96 mm bore by 83 mm stroke. Chrysler pairs this engine with a 6-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission.

Fuel Economy

The Chrysler Town & Country is rated at 17 mpg city, 25 mpg highway. This model runs on regular grade gasoline. Its 20-gallon fuel tank gives this model a cruising range of 500 miles.

Exterior Dimensions

Built on a 121.2-inch wheelbase, the Town & Country is 202.8 inches long, 78.7 inches wide and 67.9 inches tall. This model has a 5.6-inch ground clearance and a 39.1-foot turning radius. The Chrysler weighs 4,652 pounds and has a 6,050 gross vehicle weight. When equipped with a trailering package, this minivan van pull up to 3,600 pounds.

Interior Dimensions

The Town & Country offers 163.5 cubic feet of interior space. This model features a 2/2/3 seating configuration. Front head room measures 39.8 inches, middle seat head room comes in at 39.3 inches and rear head room measures 37.9 inches. Front leg room comes in at 40.7 inches, middle seat leg room at 36.5 inches and rear leg room measures 32.7 inches. Front shoulder room measures 63.7 inches, middle seat shoulder room at 64.1 inches and rear shoulder room at 62.0 inches. Front hip room measures 58.4 inches, middle seat hip room at 65.0 inches and rear hip room at 48.0 inches. Cargo volume is 33.0 cubic feet behind the rear seat, 83.3 cubic feet behind the second row seat and 143.8 cubic feet when the second and third rows are folded down.


The current Town & Country was introduced in 2008 and was revised for the 2011 model year, gaining a new engine and a new transmission. Built in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, the Town & Country is classified as a multipurpose vehicle.
