What Are Popular Big Pine Key Florida Water Sports Options?

February 28, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 100

When you're looking to visit the Florida Keys, it's very important to understand that each Key has its own distinctive personality. What might be par for the course in Key West or Key Largo might not be the same high intensity set up you find in more laid back keys like Tavernier or Big Pine Key. These latter Keys tend to be a little quieter and more laid back.

What does this mean for you? If you're visiting Big Pine Key, one of the most natural and remote of the large Florida Keys, this means that the term "water sports" has an entirely different meaning. While in Key West this might be referring to wave runners, jet skis, para-sailing, and other high adrenaline type sports.

However if you really like to get back to nature and are spending time in the Big Pine Key, the least developed and most natural of all the major Keys, then you will be looking at a more relaxing type of water sport. Fishing kayaks, kayaks, and canoe rental are all more laid back types of water sports charters and are great ways to explore the natural small keys and islands surrounding Big Pine Key. In other words, think more about long days exploring quiet and peaceful natural surroundings as opposed to partying for an adrenaline rush on the beach.

This doesn't mean that you can't find wave runners or para-sailing around Big Pine Key, but the natural set up and preservation efforts of the island mean that the more casual rentals are going to be more popular. This makes sense because islands like Key West or Key Largo are more set up for the party crowd and have more beaches while the Big Pine Key in particular is far less developed. In this case, sinkholes have a lot to do with that since these make development next to impossible.

That can work to this island's advantage. For those wanting to see the natural beauty of the Keys and not get stuck in a Spring Break type party, the Big Pine Key is a natural destination. If exploring natural islands by kayak sounds like your kind of adventure and a great way to spend a day, then you may want to check out all the water sports options that Big Pine Key providers have to offer you. You won't be disappointed by the choices available to you and locals alike.
