Overcoming Procrastination in Three Easy Steps

February 22, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 100

Admit it. At one point or another, we've all been procrastinators. It's a habit that delays us in ever doing something earlier or worse from ever doing anything at all. In fact, most of us will even say that procrastination is a hard habit to break. But just because it's hard doesn't mean it cannot be overcome. You should know that with utmost willingness and commitment, you'll definitely be able to do that. To give you a head start, here are simple steps that could help you overcome procrastination.

Talk and inspire yourself to move.

First of all, you have to realize that change comes from within. Everything must start from you.Try to psyche yourself up to move and work. Keep in mind that you would get nowhere if you would just keep standing in the same place for hours. Look for an inspiration or a motivation that could help you move forward in finishing a task.

Start right away.

Procrastination is basically delaying yourself from doing something, so encourage yourself to start right away. Make a list of all the things that needs to be done and start on it as soon as possible. Try to begin with the most difficult task and just finish the simpler ones later. This is good as you would still have a lot of energy early during the day as compared to at night. Aside from that, being able to finish something big will help you be more enthusiastic in accomplishing the rest of the work that you have to do.

Turn your phones off.

Lastly, once you start doing something make sure to turn your phones off. Same goes for your emails and other electronic gadgets as well. This can help you focus more on the specific task that you need to do and keep you from being distracted. Resist the urge to check if you have any messages. You can always do that after.

Who says procrastination is impossible to break? Discipline is indeed the key to overcoming it. Motivate yourself to do and finish a task no matter how hard it may seem. Work on it as soon as possible and avoid from putting it off at a later time. Always remember to avoid any distractions or interruptions by keeping your phones away. When you follow these simple steps, you'd be able to succeed in breaking the habit of procrastination and become more productive throughout the day.
