Different Ways to Stay Motivated in Your Business

April 10, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 121

We all have days when we are raring to go and make great plans about how we're going to change the world! Then the next day we find that we can hardly get going and start to question what we're doing. It's very easy to have great ideas but if we don't have focus and clarity around them, then that initial enthusiasm and energy can quickly start to drain away.

You need to plan where you're going otherwise you won't know what to do to get there. And you also need to remind yourself why you're doing it in the first place.

So if you're struggling to stay motivated then here are 5 ways that can help you to keep focused on what you need to do to achieve your goals and move your business forward.

Have an overall vision. Start your plan with an overall vision of where you want to go and then set your goals around that vision. Once you have got your goals, you can split them up into specific tasks of what you need to do to achieve them. This not only helps keep you focused on the important stuff, it also reminds you of the bigger picture of where you want to be.

Set specific deadlines. Once you have set down your goals and tasks, then it's essential to put specific deadlines against them. By having a deadline, it gives you something to work towards and keeps you focused on completing the task. Also, don't be afraid to set stretch targets for yourself but don't make them so unachievable that you feel overwhelmed before you even start!

Set limits on your time. By setting specific limits on your time, it keeps your mind focused and refreshed and stops you spending too much time on one project. This is a good strategy when you're using social media or perhaps putting together a report. You can set a timer for say 25 minutes or an hour, take a break and then go back to that project or start something new. You'll find that you will get far more done in the day because you're keeping account of how much time you're spending on each project.

Group similar tasks together. You may have minor tasks on your to do list like making phone calls or typing up invoices. You'll find that you work far more effectively by doing these kinds of tasks together rather than jumping around from one task to another.

Set aside a day to just do it! We all have tasks on our 'to do' list that we put off and never get round to doing. These can be going through your paperwork or putting together information to send out a monthly newsletter. Whatever it is, regularly set aside a day to tackle these tasks. Set out a schedule for the day with a list of the tasks, actions and how long you're going to spend on each one.

By having some strategies that you can use to help keep you motivated and focused, you'll find that you're using your time more effectively and therefore achieving your goals far more quickly than you did before.
