Documentation Made Easy

May 05, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 140

Writing a paper often requires you to do some research. Consulting the works of others can help you in the development of your ideas and in providing evidence to support them. This also allows you to make your points more credible to your readers. And since you are going to be using other people's ideas and works within your paper, it is imperative that you provide documentation. This is achieved simply by citing the sources of the ideas you borrowed. There are several different ways to cite sources depending on the particular field wherein your research lies. For the more scientific fields such as psychology and the social sciences as well as in education, the preferred format for documenting sources is the APA style bibliography. To avoid confusion, it is best to remember that the MLA format is referred to as Works Cited, while APA uses References.

Now, everyone knows that when it comes to citing sources, no matter what format you use, you are required to take note of several important details such as the author's name, the title of the article, and the publication details. While it may be easy to take note of such things, writing them down in the correct order according to the rules of the APA format can be quite challenging. Sometimes, it even makes one frustrated. Developing and writing the content of your paper is hard enough without the additional hardship of documentation. But with an APA citation generator, it makes citing sources as easy as pie.

So, how does one use an APA citation generator? There are actually a number of them that can be found online and most, if not all, are free to use. The steps in using any kind of generator are usually the same. Once you have all the pertinent details regarding your source material, you can start using this tool by first choosing the type of material you will be citing. The choices range from books and documents to magazines and blogs. After choosing the correct type, most APA citation generators will require you to input the necessary details in different fields. After which, it's all a matter of clicking a button that says something like "make a citation" or "generate reference." The tool will then automatically show you the reference in proper format. All you need to do is to copy and paste it onto your document. When using APA, cite your sources in alphabetical order according to the author's last name.

Having an APA citation generator is really quite useful as you won't need to look up the different samples and rules regarding the proper format. You needn't feel stressed and frustrated when it comes to citing sources. It will also save you quite a bit of time when it comes to documentation, time better spent on refining your content.

The author of this article is an experienced researcher and writer, often using an APA citation generator to lessen time spent on documentation.
