Simple Crochet Patterns For Tea Cozy

May 15, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 653

Did you know that crocheting a tea cozy for your teapot can be very simple to do and, especially if you use leftover wool, it could cost you nothing but your time - and not much of that either? Then you have not only a great looking product but something to keep your tea piping hot for longer.

Finding simple crochet patterns even for such a quirky item is quite easy in today's world of the internet. Naturally you can just put 'simple or free crochet patterns for tea cozy' into the Google, Bing of Yahoo search bar, and see what you get.

Otherwise there are certain websites that can give you these patterns for free. Have a look at as they have a whole page with free patterns. You simply click on ones you like to get the instructions. I was interested to click on cupcake tea cozy to see what that was! Others include: scallop tea cosy, daisy motif tea cozy, a cute day lily one and many more. In short, something for everyone.

Other recommended websites are where they have more than twenty free patterns and this site has images as well so you immediately know what they look like. The pattern itself comes in pdf format. Third on my list is - many of the cozies here are actually not for teapots but for mugs and even candles and soda cans. Interesting patterns here include: cat tea cozy and even a plum pudding one.

These projects are quick and usually simple to do. All you need is the correct sized crochet hook or hooks and the appropriate yarn. Most knitting and crochet enthusiasts will have quite a bit of left over yarn and a cosy won't take a lot of it. As far as size is concerned, the pattern usually gives you either the exact measurements or will state: will fit a 1-2 cut teapot. Certainly something that will help you crochet the right size for your pot.

If you would prefer to buy patterns, Amazon has several really nice books with knitting and crochet instructions for them. Even though this is quite a niche item, I was surprised at the range of these books. Again, there is something for everyone.

If you like knitting too, there are several patterns where the cozy itself is knitted but then crocheted flowers or other 'ornaments' are added for an exciting visual effect.

If you are a tea enthusiast, you would be interested in keeping your teapot as warm as possible so even that second cup of tea comes out nice and hot. This is where cozies come in and making a one is a quick and usually easy thing to do. They are often only an evening's work - possibly two. Of course, they also make unusual gifts for friends and family.

If you like crocheting and tea, there is a match made for you in heaven with Free Cozy Crochet Patterns where you can find a plethora of ideas and instructions for the perfect tea cozy for you!
