Mazda CX-5 - Crossover Without Performance Anxiety

April 03, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 148

Mazda is currently promoting a new model for 2013, the Mazda CX-5. They are billing it as a compact crossover SUV with handling and performance usually reserved for Mazda sports models. With a commitment to deliver a more fuel efficient crossover without compromising performance, Mazda gave the new CX- 5 a newfangled 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine that uses the same compression ratio as a formula one race car. The high compression ratio allows for more energy from fuel, 155hp and around 35 mpg highway while consuming 15 percent less fuel and lowering emissions than in previous models.By the way, this new Mazda CX-5 is happy to run on 87 octane fuel.To compliment the race car engine and deliver more of that performance Mazda is so keen on they also added a new six-speed automatic transmission.

Although not yet available for test drives this vehicle just looks like it would it would be a fun ride. Sleek body styling with a rounded nose and hind quarters sets it apart from its siblings, the Mazda CX-7 and CX-9 and frankly the CX-5 is nowhere near as boring. In fact the CX-5 has a sophisticated, somewhat highbrow, flair similar to the Infiniti EX but with a price tag of about $15,000 less. In addition to its good looks, the CX-5 is built with a stronger, more rigid frame and is able to withstand collisions better than previous models. Beyond the structural integrity the CX-5 is equipped with a traction control system and abundant front and side airbags to protect the driver and passengers. In fact, the new CX-5 was named top safety pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

With all this performance, styling and safety Mazda would be remiss to not include some extra technology in the cockpit. For those who enjoy the creature comforts there are plenty to choose from. Optional hands-free phone, HD radio, push button start, dual climate control, intelligent navigation system and power sliding glass moon roof can all be selected to trick out this Mazda ride. Bottom line is that this Mazda has been built to please. Mazda enthusiasts everywhere are adding their names to wait lists and requesting updates on dealer delivery dates. We all know a good thing when we find it and for many of us Mazda makes a nice collection of good things. There's a reason you don't find many Mazda models at used car dealerships.
