Complications and Benefits of Stress

February 25, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 145

We all experience stress in our life. There are many different kinds of stresses and various degrees. Not all stress is bad. Some of the stresses that we experience help motivate us to get through the day. For instance, you have an appointment and only a certain amount of time to get to that appointment. If you are running late a little stress can motivate you to move faster and get you to your appointment on time. This kind of stress is not necessarily bad for you. Also, most adults have many responsibilities. We have responsibilities to our families and our jobs; we have bills to pay and many other requirements to fulfill on a daily basis. Stress can be energizing when used properly.

In emergency situations stress is used to take care of the immediate need. It forces you to respond, sometimes you will experience a fight or flight response. Some people do not respond to stress and the need for immediate actions and do not do well in emergency situations. The stress overtakes them and they become incapable of taking charge.

Let's talk about how ongoing stress can cause all sorts of problems in your life. Well, if life circumstances become overwhelming or there are too many issues to have to cope with, the stress can become unbearable and begin to destroy your health and your life. Many of the health problems that humans are forced to endure are due to unresolved conflicts and/or issues that must be addressed immediately but the answers are not forthcoming. This is when our bodies begin to react to the stress with health issues which then cause more stress and begin to make us immobile. It is under these circumstances that we must do everything we can to take care of our health. When under severe ongoing stress people need more rest and sleep, they need to eat well and do some positive things for themselves to relief some of the stress. Sometimes just taking a break will help put things into proper perspective.

The stress that comes from making major changes in your life can motivate you to continue to pursue success in a variety of ways; such as a new business venture or moving to a desired location, or maybe buying a new home. This stress is being used for a particular end and can also be exhausting. Eventually this type of stress will be used to gain the desired result.

There is also the stress that comes from events happening in your life that you have no control over. These events can be natural disasters, death of loved one, financial issues, etc. This may be the most devastating stress you will ever experience. Hopefully you will have people who love you in your life who help you through these difficult times.

Hopefully this information regarding stress will be a help to you in differentiating the difference between good stress and the kind that is destructive.
