How to Find Quality Kids Outdoor Clothing

February 14, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 147

We all know our kids just love to get outside and thrash out some of that stored up energy. Whether they have been stuck indoors on the games console or perhaps they've been at school all week kids just love to get outside in the fresh air. As a parent myself, I have sympathy for other parents in that it is difficult sometimes to find the right kids outdoor clothing, and especially difficult to find the right gear at the right price. There are hundreds of kids clothing suppliers, but finding the right one that sells quality garments is difficult.

The first thing to consider is the quality of the garments, the British weather continually changes and ensuring that your little one remains warm and dry at all times is paramount. My advice is to ensure that you layer the clothing, perhaps as a base layer children could just wear a tee-shirt. This forms a warm inner layer that is the first line of defence against the elements and as such also gives the added benefit should they wish to ditch their jumper or fleece top. Kids get hot, even in fairly cold conditions. This is because they usually are running around playing pirates or "king of the castle", their bodies use up energy at a faster rate than adults and as such heat is exchanged through the skin.

Allowing a base layer to be used as this first defence is one step, the next is to ensure that the next layer, lets call this the mid-layer, is of good quality and something that lasts. A warm fleece for kids is by far the most efficient. The tightly packed fibres ensures that heat is trapped on the outer layer, and this creates a thermal protective skin a bit like a hot water flask - the inside stays warm but the outer part of the flask stays cool.

Kids fleeces are an amazing, cost-effective way of ensuring that your child is warm. Quite often they come in all colours in the form of sweaters, jumpers and soft tops. Fleeces are soft to the touch, which means kids wont be put off with the itchy wool fibres. Warm outdoor clothing for kids needs to appeal the them, they need to want to wear it and as adults we need to know that once they are out of view they will not ditch their "horrid" jumper because of the way it looks.

Substitute a fleece top for a soft cotton top when the weather gets a little warmer, this has the consequence of preserving some of the heat while allowing just the right amount to escape, sufficiently enabling the transfer of heat and thus cooling the body. Jumpers, sweaters and other kids warm apparel have progressed a long way since the mid 1960's when the only choice was acrylic synthetic fabrics. Nowadays a vast amount of choice is presented to us as consumers and sometimes this choice can overwhelm us. Finding the right supplier is a matter of choice, but one thing to look out for is quality in all your sports apparel. High quality fabrics make the difference, from the stitching to the zip work quality is everything when deciding what your little one should wear.

My advice is to shop around until you find a company which specialize in quality outdoor clothing for children and don't settle for anything less. Of course your choice is compromised by your budget, however allow a slight overhead now as investing in quality clothing today means it can be passed on to the next generation, thus benefiting everyone and perhaps saving a little along the way.
