7 Reasons Why Every Dentist Needs A Website

July 10, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 150

Dentist - the dreaded 'D' word! Isn't it irrational how everyone fears going to their dentist? Really, is there anyone who actually looks forward to a root canal or tooth filling? With most people wanting to stay away from them, it is even more challenging to advertise or promote this kind of business. How do you become popular when the image you generate is that of pain and long boring hours in the waiting room? A website can be the most subtle way a dentist 'talks' to his or her patients.

Inspite of all the negative impressions, dentistry requires skill, investment and attention to detail. Technology also plays an important role in the service a dentist provides to their patients. Clean surroundings, good lighting, latest equipment, efficient assistants all contribute to your whole experience at the dental office.

Check these ways you can let people know more about your dental practice, and provide helpful information.

1. Establish your specialty

Are you a surgeon, do you do special work like reconstructive surgery needed after accidents? There are specialties even within the dental field. Let people know what you are capable of by outlining everything on your website.

2. Establish your credentials

Your education and certifications/accreditations etc. are important. You spent a lot of time, money and sweat getting them. And the only way people will realize this is if you let them know. You are much more than a slot machine that eats up dollars. And people will grumble less when you bill them the next time?

3. Describe facilities and equipment

Like every product, I am sure a dental practice has a choice of what to invest in. How will your patient know you bought the most expensive chair to make them comfortable? Or that you upgrade all your equipment every year to ensure their safety? I am not a dentist, so I am just guessing here. But you know what care goes into ensuring that your patients stay clean, safe and get the best care.

You can let them know by adding photos of your practice.

4. Describe typical symptoms, procedures etc.

You can either start a blog, publish a FAQs page, or a series of informative articles on various symptoms and what they mean, typical time required for certain procedures, any prep necessary etc. You can add a contact form to your website so people can voice concerns or let you know a topic they want more information on.

This will mentally prepare people before they come to your office, and be that extra step to show that you care! And save you time, so you don't answer the same questions again and again!

5. Offers, coupons etc.

A website gives you unlimited potential to promote yourself. You can add any special offers, coupons etc. here that people can print out and bring to you.

6. Enable social media

You can go one step ahead to engage with your patients and build lasting relationships. Enabling social media features will allow people to communicate among themselves, share your information and give them a channel to talk to you.

We all know how busy healthcare providers are. And there is always that one question we really wanted to ask them. Maybe someone already has! The power of community is such that people will automatically share information, reducing some of your repetitive tasks.

7. Smiles and testimonials

Yes, you will get a lot of pats on the back, and you can display all these on your website. This will show people that you are friendly and efficient. What could be a better compliment?

Your dental practice is like any other business. And with a good website, you can go from dreaded to loved in no time.

Remember, you cannot shy away anymore from having a web presence. Get this free WordPress guide and you can have an attractive functional website up in no time.
