4 Tips to Reenergize Business for Coaches and Heart Centered Professionals

July 04, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 164

Many heart-centered professionals struggle to make the income they desire from their work. Some decide to quit the business and go back to their old jobs, while others accept their situation as the reality and continue struggling.

Failing in business can be very painful even though you can learn from it. You are investing your time, money, and energy in to making your dreams become reality. You want to share your gifts and serve others, and it is important for you to succeed. Therefore, you must learn to do whatever it takes to succeed.

Service businesses fail for variety of reasons, but the most important and visible challenge for most professionals is a lack of effective marketing and planning. Even though most coaches, consultants, healers, and heart-centered service professionals are providing an important service to the world, the laws of business are the same for everyone, and everyone must learn how to market their business effectively.

Here is the secret. Marketing is not as difficult as most people think. What makes it difficult is our resistance to learning and doing what is required. What we think about marketing is related to our erroneous beliefs. There are many passionate and successful solo professionals that are authentically and effectively marketing their services, and creating an impact in the world, and so can you!

Here are four tips to realign and to reenergize your business:

#1 - Identify and Stay Connected with Your Purpose and Passion

Most coaches and heart-centered professionals are passionate or at least, at one time were passionate about their business. They wanted to start their business and serve others. However, so many start ignoring their passion and end up losing their purpose in the process of creating their business. They start addressing the urgent issues of running a business instead of focusing on their vision. Before long, they get lost in the daily tasks of their business and forget their bigger purpose.

This is normal and happens to too many of us. Has it happened to you yet? Here is how you can deal with this challenge: Write a personal contract, including your vision, purpose, and what is important to you. Define clear goals and write them in your contract. Then evaluate your progress and your alignment with your purpose once a week. You must decide what you want to change, not let changes decide for you!

#2 - Ask For Help and Allow Others to Contribute to Your Success

One of the biggest challenges for coaches, consultants and other solo professionals is their mindset. Most professionals work alone and handle a variety of tasks, challenges, and opportunities. They don't want to ask for help, and try to do it all on their own. This is a mindset trap. We consider working hard as a prerequisite to success. However, that is not exactly correct. Although most successful people work hard, there are many hardworking service professionals that are not producing the results they want.

You must learn to ask for help. You may need a coach or a virtual assistant to help you with running your business. Did you really leave your job to work harder? Hopefully, the answer is "No". Learn to delegate, and remember that you are not here to do it all alone. You must realize that if you are sharing your gifts with others, then you must allow others to share their gifts with you.

#3 - Create a Marketing Plan and Take Action

Do you have a marketing plan? Most service professionals don't have a marketing plan. We all know planning is important and we may have done some planning at the beginning of our business. However, we stop following our plans and start reacting to urgent tasks. Instead, we must continue to focus and follow our plan. Reacting to events and situations will never take us forward toward our goals. You will never reach your destination if you don't know where you are going and how you are planning to get there.

Planning is important and it is even more important to follow your plans and take action. Planning is the best way to know where you are and what you need to do next. Hence, create and adjust your plans at least once a month. Get Help! Imagine if you needed to learn marketing, public speaking, or how to use social media. I know you can learn it on your own, but it will take you months if not years to learn everything. This is time that you could be spending doing what you love. On the other hand, if you hire a coach, he or she can teach you what you need to learn much faster: therefore, you will save a lot of time and money. I know we all resist hiring help due to the way we think about money. We believe that we can do it all and learn it all on our own. However, consider how much time you will save by asking for help and remember that your time is money. If you don't think your time is valuable then you definitely need some help and coaching.

#4 - Collaborate With Others That Are Serving Your Market

Learn to partner and collaborate with other professionals who are serving your market. The power is in partnerships and groups. Identify those people and businesses with whom you can partner. You can grow your business much faster and provide a greater value to your clients by partnering and collaborating with others. One of the best ways to expand your business is through referrals.

Here is your assignment: Identify your bigger purpose? If you have one, then make sure you are aligned with it and if not, create one. Hire a coach to help you with what you are struggling with. Get help to operate your business or at least find out the cost for delegating the things that are consuming your energy. Finally, remember that your purpose and passion is to share your gift and help others, but it is not to do it all by yourself!
