Facebook is changing over to the new Timeline for personal and fan pages. This will literally cause everyone to get used to a new way of using Facebook. These types of power moves being made by Facebook is one of the main reasons why we always advise our clients to move their leads and potential customers out of social media and into their funnel or onto their list as soon as possible. Because as long as they're on Facebook or Twitter or any other social media site, they do not belong to you. These leads and potential leads belong to the social media company, who has complete control of your account until you're able to move them from those sites and engage them on your own website or community by becoming a part of your list.

It's important to have a complete understanding of the upcoming changes on Facebook. This way you can take advantage of all the changes and not have to worry about potentially having your timeline photo removed or your account shut down. Which is why it's so important to understand what's about to happen and how you can navigate through these upcoming changes and use them to your advantage.

First, you should know that there will be a lot of restrictions regarding what you can or cannot include in your Timeline cover photo. If you don't know the rules, you will want to learn them fast because they're a lot of things you cannot do, for example: You can't promote any kind of downloads, price specials, email addresses or contact info, coupons, etc. While this is not ideal for most people, it will allow a lot of people to get creative with their timeline photos and pick photos that literally reflect their personality or the personality of their brand.

Another big change is that you won't be able to create welcome landing pages This is a "big" deal. A lot of people used their welcome page as a landing page requesting visitors to "click like" to gain access to some type of complimentary data. This feature has helped a lot of business owners gain likes or have helped them to add people to their list. But now "poof" like magic, this feature is gone. Many people have paid lots of money to graphic artist and designers to build these beautiful landing pages and now the feature is gone overnight. Several companies like FanPageEngine and Pagemodo made big money from this feature only to wake up and have them disappear. However, companies like Lujure has awesome functionality that allow you to do amazing things like drop your entire website into your FB Fan Pages and then you can use custom tabs to drive traffic to this custom info.

The bottom line with a lot of these changes is this... Facebook is going to make it more interesting and creative for you to promote your business and generate leads using their social network. You can always simply use Pay Per Click Advertising to grow your customer and lead base using FB. This is a tried and true method that works and therefore, it's worth continued use.

The internet is a very dynamic place and in order to keep on top of the social media changes like the ones FB has made, training is key. Don't get left behind, stay in the know.
