Snowboarding Around The World

Snowboarding is an extreme sport that was born right here in the United States. Many people seem to think that you can only go snowboarding when it is wintertime, but that is quite far from the truth. It can be done anywhere there is plenty of snow and mountains; this means you can go snowboarding all around the globe.

International snowboarding is quickly becoming one of the most popular vacations and sports of choice for people all over the world. One of the perks about having a love of the sport is that you get to appreciate nature when she is at her coldest. Thrill seekers from all over the world are exploring and seeking out all of the wonderful places the world has to offer for snowboarding. Here are a few places that are popular with snowboarders from afar.

Nagano, Japan

If you are a fan of the Japanese culture or are interested in getting to know more about it, snowboarding in Japan offers you that opportunity. Nagano, Japan is home to the first Olympic snowboarding events in the world. The snowboarding season runs from November to approximately April, depending on the weather. This gives you a longer than average timeframe to visit and take in all that Japan has to offer. There are several premium resorts in the area and they have an impressive array of snowboarding activities and contests for snowboarders of all experience levels.

New Zealand

New Zealand is considered skiing and snowboarding territory, so it only seems right that it is one of the popular places to go during ski season. The south islands of New Zealand are the most popular areas in the country to snowboard. In addition to the scenery, there are many parks and pipes that are available to any snowboarder regardless of their skill set.

Park City Mountain Resort, Utah

The US has many mountains that are full of snowboarding opportunities and is a destination for snowboarders from all over the world. One such place is the Park City Mountain Resort that is located in Utah. It has consistently been ranked as one of America's premier skiing and snowboarding resorts for several years. The winters in Utah may be cold, but once you are on your board, you will get to experience the thrill that thousands of snowboarders seek out every day in Utah. There are so many different landscapes and terrains to experience and their typical winter weather is considered the optimal conditions for enjoying the sport.


Europe has many different countries that are favorites of snowboarders, such as the Austrian Alps, French Alps and Swiss Alps. Some of the world's best ski and international snowboarding resorts are located in Europe. In addition to the Alps, Spain, Sweden, Finland and Norway all have gorgeous resorts where you can go snowboarding. They have smaller mountains, but the experience is no less thrilling. Since Sweden, Finland and Norway are situated in the northern latitudes, these countries enjoy an especially long ski and snowboarding season.


Most people do not think of snowboarding and Africa together. Although many know Africa for its hot and humid climate; there are certain areas in Africa that are becoming major ski resorts and tourists attractions. There are quite a few mountains with snow peaks that offer the chance to experience a very unique snowboarding experience. They are not as big as those in other countries, but they offer a different cultural experience from every other typical winter destination.
