Buying The Right Salon Styling Chairs Is An Important Investment

July 05, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 196

Salon styling chairs and styling stations are a vital part of any hair salon. But in this competitive industry just having salon chairs and styling stations isn't always enough. It's important to have equipment and furniture that fits the overall look and feel of your shop, but it also needs to be comfortable for your customers and functional for your staff.

If you are opening a new salon buying new salon equipment can be a hefty expense, one that may be intimidating. In order to cut costs you have a few options. You can buy wholesale or discount salon equipment and furniture, or you can buy used. But regardless of the way you choose to buy it, new, wholesale, discount or used, there are some important things to consider before picking out the specific pieces.

Salon Styling Chairs - Things To Consider

If you have a small shop the first thing you may want to do is measure the available space so you will know what will fit in the space you have designated for the salon styling chairs. Have an idea of the layout that makes the most sense in the space you have, as well as the look you want (modern, retro etc). You want the salon to have a good feel and flow; it needs to look professional but also be functional. This is especially important in a smaller space.

The next important consideration will be price, whether you are buying new or used. You need to find salon chairs in a price range that you can afford. Once you find the right price range you can start looking at the details of the equipment.

You want them to be comfortable for your customers so it's good to try them out thinking of the customer's point of view. Is it comfortable, too big and clumsy, too small etc? But you also need to try it considering the stylists point of view. Is it easy to use, smooth, clunky etc? It is important that the employees who will be using this equipment everyday will like it as well.

Buying Used Salon Equipment

If you have decided to buy used beauty salon equipment there are a few additional things to consider before making your purchase, but the money you will save may make these extra steps well worth it in the end.

Make sure you see the equipment in person and test it to make sure everything works smoothly and as it is meant to. Look for any dents, scratches or marks. Some of these may be easily fixed, but you may be able to get a better price if it looks heavily used. Try to get records for any maintenance or repairs that have been preformed on the items you are considering. Also ask about any possible factory warranties that may still be in effect.

Buying used can be a great way to save money or make your dollars stretch farther, but you just need to take a few extra steps up front to be sure you know what you are getting.
