6 Tips for Shaving Your Legs Perfectly Smooth

Shaving your legs can be a tricky task; some of those hair shafts just won't go away! Since mini skirts and dresses have become the most sought-after items in fashion, hair removal has become an addition in a woman's skin care routine. In case you can't spend your money on laser hair removal or you can't stand the pain of waxing, you can still get smoother legs by shaving.

1. The best time to shave is while you are in the shower. It is easier to shave off hair while the skin is still moist, and if possible, use warm water as it can soften up the hair shafts. Never, ever dry shave as it can cause razor burn and give you cuts and scratches. At the same time, dead skin cells can clog up the razor, making it difficult to use.

2. Take care of your razors. Accordingly, razors work well only within three times of use, so you have to change them or the cartridges regularly. Razors that have been in your bathroom cabinet for a long time can't work as well as new ones, and you may need to apply deeper pressure when shaving with clogged razors. This can scratch your legs if not done carefully. Before you shave, sprinkle a few drops of olive oil to prevent rusting and to make hair removal easier. Also, be hygienic and don't share your razors with anyone!

3. Before shaving your legs, remember to exfoliate your skin by using exfoliating gloves or sponges. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells, making it easier for the razor to shave off the hair. At the same time, your razors are less likely to be clogged up with dead skin cells. Exfoliating everyday also prevents ingrown hairs from developing. Use a "glycolic acid" cleanser when exfoliating the affected areas. Better yet, you can buy a lotion specially formulated for ingrown hair.

4. The application of lubricants, preferably shaving cream, facilities smoother gliding of the razor. Ran out of shaving cream? Some women use soap as lubricants, but this can leave sticky residues on the skin and is not as effective as shaving creams. Try using hair conditioner instead.

5. Bending you legs make shaving easier. Do this by propping your foot against the wall or on the edge of the bathtub. The direction of hair growth on the legs is downward, so you'll need to shave starting from the ankles and gradually working your way upward. Don't go over the same spot for more than three times since this can scratch your skin. Remember to rinse off the razor every now and then.

6. Since the legs have fewer oil glands, they are more prone to skin drying. After you have finished shaving your legs, apply moisturizer. Not only will it prevent skin dryness, but it can also ease any discomfort and redness. Different types of oil such as baby oil and extra virgin coconut oil can also be applied after showering.
