Contrary to what others believe, the snow season is one of the greatest opportunities to bond with our family and friends. Instead spending our time indoors sleeping or watching TV, there are outdoor winter activities that we could try.

Here are the top nine of them which can help us make the best out of this time of the year.

Go to the nearest winter resort and inquire about basic ski lessons. If this is something that you have not tried, you will be definitely be surprised to feel the adrenaline rush that comes with trying it. While this can be done individually, you will enjoy more if you will hit the slopes and share the thrills with your loved ones.

Just like skiing, snowmobiling allows you to tour some snowy slopes. Instead of skis, you will ride a special vehicle in the middle of thick snow.

This is a must-try for those who are up not only for fun winter activities but also greater challenges. As the name suggests, a snowboard is what you will need. But for you to enjoy the sport, you must have a brave heart.

Snowshoeing is an activity that kids will enjoy with the company of adults. It may be likened to hiking. In place of hiking shoes, you will wear snowshoes. They look like webbed footwear which are usually made of special types of wood.

Who says camping can only be appreciated in the summer? By planning it right, it could be as enjoyable as a summer camp. It can include interesting activities like animal tracking, hiking in the snowy woods and sharing ghost stories around a bonfire. However, the freezing temperatures in the open-air might test your ability to join such activities.

Teaching your kids to glide in the snow could be a rewarding pastime during the winter season. This will definitely burn a hole in your pockets. You can simply go to the ice skating park of your choice, pay a minimal fee and rent for your skating shoes.

Playing Hockey

Some just can't get enough with watching outdoor winter activities like a hockey game. With the company of your friends, you can hit the ice for some action. Just remember to put on the right gears and a good pair of hockey skates.

Want to get refreshed by the winter breeze? Run through the snow! But before you do this, make sure that your entire body is properly clothed in warm layers. Certain stores currently sell running jackets that are meant for winter running. They are well-ventilated jackets created to protect wearer from the strong gush of winds which could be harmful to one's health.

Mounds of snow should not stop your interest in biking. It is one of the outdoor winter activities that can keep your body fit all throughout the season. To ensure that biking in cool weather won't pose any danger to your health, take lots of vitamins and sport appropriate clothes that will keep you warm and comfortable while maneuvering your wheels.
