February 12, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 148

Skateboarding tricks are the acts that make this sport attractive for the spectators and more adventurous for the skateboarders. Although they are known to be quite risky and difficult, they

necessitate the usage of skateboard gear. They usually become an important factor for judging the performance of contestants in a skateboarding contest. They are judged on few parameters, such as

creativity, level of difficulty and of course, ease of performing them. Of course, you should wear appropriate skate gear while performing these tricks.

These stunts and tricks are not really too easy to master, but of course, they are not impossible to learn either. Here are few tricks you can learn following the steps given below:

50-50 Grind: Sliding along a railing or a bench is called a grind. You can start learning this trick using a ledge initially and then, gradually move to a rail. You should consider wearing suitable

skate gear before you perform this trick.

Here is how you can begin learning this trick: • Start from a distance so that you can attain a high speed when you come onto the ledge you are going to grind on. • Make sure that your feet are positioned like in the Ollie trick when you are moving towards the ledge • Ollie onto the ledge such that it remains at the middle after bending your feet when you're close to the ledge. • Try bending forward to maintain your balance • Lift your skateboard and jump when you are at the edge, in order to land on the wheels.

Board sliding: In board sliding, you slide along a rail, jump onto it followed by a little slide and then, land onto the ground. The rail or ledge should be waxed enough to allow a smooth slide.

Also, you should be wearing suitable skateboard gear before you perform this trick. Here is how you can begin learning this trick

• Make sure that your feet are positioned like in the Ollie trick when you are moving towards the ledge • Keep the obstacle behind your heels while you're riding along it • Land after doing Ollie turning at a right angle, such that the obstacle remains at the middle of your skateboard. • Bend your knees in order to ensure that you maintain balance • Turn in the opposite direction at a right angle to jump off the edge of the obstacle Caveman: This trick is one of the first tricks that beginners learn. It requires some experience of riding a skateboard. Here is how you do this trick: • Stand on the flat ground with the skateboard in one of your hands. • Hold the skateboard using fingers and place your thumb onto the grip • Swing the skateboard holding it from the top end and letting the tail end go away. When it oscillates back, jump onto the board when it falls back onto the ground.
