Your Guide to Making a Successful Web Presence

There are many ways through which you can perform a task and almost everybody knows how to do it. But still some are able to do it successfully while others fail even in the beginning. Let us start with the basics of promoting your website which is by writing the content of your website in such a way that it is rich in preferred keywords. Now there are many tricks used to make your webpage for optimal indexing. But the idea is not to trick the people, but to give them something concrete in the end. You do not want the visitor to find you on a search engine and then go back disappointed. So rather than just stressing on a higher ranking, also make sure your website has all the elements to hold the customer and make a sale as your job does not end with a high SEO rank.

Now let's talk about achieving a higher rank in search engine. This process starts with writing a descriptive keywords rich title omitting the fillers like the, an, and etc followed by inclusion of your business name in the title itself. The summary or description should be written in META tag at the top of a webpage using the main keywords and key-phrases on the page. Another smart trick is to use your keywords in headers as well. Using keywords in H1, H2, and H3 tags sends subtle hints to the search engine.

First impression is always the last impression. You don't expect your buyers to go through the whole crap you provide about yourself. So make an impact in the very first paragraph. Position your keywords in the very first paragraph of the text body but the idea lies in doing it smartly. Obviously you do not want to look as if you have artificially stuffed these keywords making it look all the more plastic and overdone. Remember to make optimum use of images and include your keywords in image tags also while also using keywords in hyperlinks.

Search engines are bad at reading JavaScript and Flash. So add regular HTML links at the bottom which will ensure that a chain of hyperlinks is there which will enable the search engine to navigate from your main page to other pages as well. You can also create a site map page which has all the links to your important pages which makes the search engines to identify them easily.

You can also develop different webpages which focus on each of the keyword you identify for your business. Many software available in the market enables you to check and compare your current rankings with your competitors. So stick to the trial and error method and keep on making appropriate changes. Apart from the content, you can also optimize your videos and images as many times Google also displays the relevant videos along with other content.

The next part involves linking strategies which are used to link your site from other sites to drive additional traffic. This can be done by submitting your site to key directories like yahoo directory, trade organization sites and specialized directories. Companies also issue news releases on newsworthy events on their website. These links remain in online news databases for many months giving a temporary push in bringing traffic.

Of late, social media has gained a lot of momentum in helping you bring traffic to your website. There are also many strategies based on the optimum use of social media to promote your website. You can start with a business blog which is hosted on your own domain. Informative content and active presence make it all the more likely for people to link it with their website increasing your site's page rank in the process. When we are living in a world of social media interaction, it is very important for you to become a part of the online social community. Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn, stumble upon are all excellent platforms to discuss issues and likes-dislikes about various products. A link to your website is provided in your profile which gives you added visibility. Another social media advantage is to discuss your issues in online forums and participating in discussions.

In addition, there are old and tested formulas to promote your website which cannot be ignored. It can be done through cards, pamphlets, company literature, email newsletters, email signatures etc. There are various paid methods also which covers the advertising part. People also use the technique of viral marketing wherein something unique and strange is used to create the buzz in the online circles. This buzz can be passed over by friends through emails and social media updates. The more buzz it generates, the more publicity you get for your product that too at virtually no cost. Various online contests are also organized for drawing the people towards your website. In lieu of a handful of freebies, you get hands on exposure on the online platform.

The list is endless but you just need to find the right technique which suits you the best. However, all this is not as easy as it seems. It involves a lot of efforts and expertise on your part.
