When Life Freezes Up, Take A Good Risk

July 02, 2011 | Comments: 0 | Views: 107

Before I really begin, I would like to tell you what I mean by a good risk. A good risk is a risk that shakes things up a bit; it is a risk that does not potentially destroy your life, it just makes it interesting for a while. For, when life freezes up, that is a good thing indeed. For one of those types of risks that makes it interesting is a healthy adventure. Especially when it is calculated ingeniously like a "lightning calculator." I know what I am talking about, I take those type of risks all the time that end up well because they are based on logic instead of emotion. But, here is a solemn warning, never take these types of "risks" from an emotional base, ever. Because I am not saying take the "if it feels good do it" philosophy at all. I am saying, keep things fresh and interesting when you can and when it is feasible.

Sure, you can sit around in a situation you hate without taking one of "those risks" only to regret not taking your chance at the right time later from a logical standpoint. What I mean is, most people think logically about their decisions after they make the emotional choice which leads to frustration at the very least, or total sadness at the very most. The secret to success is to think logically about their choice and then produce the corresponding emotion about it, which leads to happiness, and in this society that is the secret of success of the few, not the many who do not take any risks to keep their lives going "smoothly" without matter to how unsatisfied they are.

My point is not to preach or pontificate, but it is to inform that we all create our own happiness through the way we approach things logically and then emotionally, and not the other way around or emotionally then logically; sure when we do things right, they come out right, when we do things wrong, they come out wrong. Logically and emotionally there is not any changing those facts or realities for that matter.

I remember thinking as a boy from that standpoint, nothing has changed except that I have matured immensely and the reality of my way of thinking is cemented or solid in my spirit and soul, as well as my mind and body. Take care of it all in a good or great way, and it will all take care of you in a good and great way. Time and reality does not stand still and we should not either. "A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step."

My name is Joshua Clayton, I am a freelance writer based in Inglewood, California. I also write under a few pen-names and aliases, but Joshua Clayton is my real name, and I write by that for the most part now. I am a philosophical writer and objective thinker and honest action taker. I also work at a senior center in Gardena, California as my day job, among other things, but primarily I am a writer.
