In 2012, A College Degree Can Equal Deep Debts and Regrets - Generation Limbo!

March 05, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 119

There's been a lot of hype lately about the recent drop in both initial unemployment insurance claims and unemployment rates. The media is eating it up and now the American people believes that more and more job seekers are filling positions these days. Especially those with College Degrees. Sadly, there are other reports that blatantly contradicts the decrease.

According to, "Other numbers show a much weaker job market and economy; the average unemployment duration remains near its all-time high, hiring is stuck near record lows, and there are almost 3 million workers in part-time rather than full-time jobs." They further report that, "Forecasting the number of people employed by focusing on workers filing for unemployment insurance is like guessing a pool's water level by measuring how much flows out but ignoring the rate at which water is being added." I'm not here to debate which side is right. But I can attest to what I see here, on the ground floor.

I see citizens from all walks of life losing jobs at alarming rates. Citizens with clean records; citizens with not so clean records. From College Graduates to high school drop-outs, to the PhD and Master Degree holders. They, too, have found themselves in the unemployment boat. I know one PhD Degree holder whose been out of work for five months, and she knows four others. It's either that or settling for work outside of their field of study. From an essay entitled, Not all college majors are created equal, in The Washington Post: "Too many students aren't sure what job they could get after four, five or even six years of studying a certain major and racking up education loans."

We are talking about highly educated twenty-somethings, whose careers are stuck in neutral at no fault to them. They are often referred to as Generation Limbo. And this is our future for crying out loud! I mean, what has this economy/world come to when Ivy League Graduates find that there only option is welfare?

The rules have changed. These days, a skilled-trade certificate would place you in a better income situation. Notice, I said "better", but not exactly the greatest. In fact, depending on what trade you're in, and the region you work, I'm sure you've found it difficult to stay busy and earn a steady full-time income as well. Considering there's clearly a mismatch between the aspirations of graduates and employment opportunities available to them, it's a wonder how traditional Universities still hold their appeal. Relying solely on a College Degree just isn't safe any more. In some cases it could be detrimental.

The New York Times recently profiled Courtney Munnas - a recent college graduate who has not been able to get a "good job" and who now finds herself in 'student loan hell.' She recently told the New York Times that she would be more than glad to give back her education if she could just get out of all this debt....

I receive my teachings from a University unlike any traditional University that you know about. It's more like an institution that provides a systematic way for you to earn while you learn. And I mean, really make money and learn from some of the industry's top earners! It's the epitome of 'hands-on training' that most College Degree holders didn't receive from a traditional University. And that's ultimately what will prepare you for the career that you deserve! INTERNET INCOME UNIVERSITY (IIU). They keep me ahead of the game, and in this industry you have to stay on your toes if you want to succeed!
