Believe in the Impossible, Suspend Your Belief System, and Then Innovate At Will

December 26, 2011 | Comments: 0 | Views: 146

The other day, I got an interesting backhanded compliment, the gentleman began calling me; an interesting person, colorful, and what have you. Then indeed congratulated me for my agile mind, and a couple of other things, and stopped just short of calling me crazy by the time he had finished his compliment. Indeed, I was taken aback, and yet I understand what he was talking about. Nevertheless, to operate at that level, or even to go beyond it, which would be my goal, and should be viewed as the goal of all entrepreneurs, innovators, and the creative geniuses of our time, first, they must suspend their belief system.

It is very difficult to innovate and adapt, and come up with new paradigms for the future that lies ahead regardless of the industry or area of science if your mind is stuck in a linear trap, with a cardboard box over your head. I'm here to tell you, it is time to recycle that cardboard box, not your brain. Sometimes it pays to believe in the impossible, not an impossible story that someone had told you or brainwashed you into believing, but rather to consider all possibilities, and cross pollinate those ideas with everything that you've seen, touched, heard, seen, tasted, or smelled in the real world.

Even those things that you cannot see or touch, but that you intuitively feel must be taken, nurtured, and those ideas, concepts, and thoughts must be grown. They hold the key to the door to the next new discovery that is just beyond what humans can comprehend, because they have no experience in observing.

Will folks call you crazy if you have that sort of mind, if your brain is that agile to cross pollinate with the unknown, taking a virtual world and merging it with the real world, and then creating a new world and merging it with all of that? Yes, they will call you crazy. Just like they called every other inventor, innovator, and creative genius who is ever come up with a new concept that created a paradigm shift for mankind throughout the ages. But that's what you have to do with you want to get there.

It's not free, and you must become your own evangelic, you must become the spokesman for your new innovation and concept, and you must never give up, or never be deterred by someone that gives you a backhanded compliment, who has probably himself or herself never achieved a God-darned thing in their lifetime. Now then, that's what it takes to win, that's what it takes to innovate, and I ask you; are you up for the challenge? Think on that.
