Once might say that Sci-Fi writers are prophets of the science community. Let's take a look at some of the things that were only a thought on pages now exist today.

1. Space Exploration: Johannes Kepler, a mathematician and an astronomer, had the first idea this could be plausible far back as 1634.

Johannes Kepler's most influential accomplishments in astronomy were his three Laws of Planetary Motion, which were used by Isaac Newton to develop his theory of universal gravitation:

-Kepler's First Law: The planets move in elliptical orbits with the sun at a focus.-Kepler's Second Law: In their orbits around the sun, the planets sweep out equal areas in equal times.-Kepler's Third Law: The squares of the times to complete one orbit are proportional to the cubes of the average distances from the sun.

2. Scuba Diving: The first Scuba suit was invented in the 16th Century but Jules Verne in his book '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea' dreamed it up in 1870.

3. Credit Cards: The credit card was first used in the 1920's but it was first named by Edward Bellamy in his utopia book 'Looking Back' published in 1888.

4.The Internet: Mark Twain came up with a global communication network so people could talk and see each other in the now in a short story 'From the London Times of 1904' in 1898

5. The ipad: H.G. Wells described this device that has a flat screen with colorful moving images in his book 'When The Sleeper Wakes' in 1899

6. Robots: The idea of mechanical-human counterparts can be traced back to Greek myth but the term robot was first used in 1920 by Karel Capek, a sci-fi writer before sci-fi became a Genre.

7. Genetic Engineering: 'Brave New Worlds' novel by Aldous Huxley is about a society where can artificially conceive babies by manipulating genes. It came out in 1932.

8. DVD's / CD's: Storing records on disk was first seen in a novel 'Triplanetary; First of the famous Lensman series' by E.E. "Doc" Smith in 1934 before they came out in 1982.

9. Satellites: These devices which makes telecommunication passable were first conceived in a story 'Extra Terrestrial Relays' by Arthur C Clarke in 1945

10. CCTV: They were imagined by author George Orwell in the book '1984' in the year 1949 before they were introduced in the 60's and 70's.

There you have some of our great technology science created for us but started out only science fiction. I'm sure there's so much more fantastic gadgets I haven't covered yet and even more to come. If you can dream it. It can be done!
