Sales Training - 5 Ways To Improve Your Closing Skills

May 15, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 104

There are key elements to every sales conversation and if you start to incorporate some of the most valuable ones with each client I promise you will see improved sales results. One of the reasons it has become more challenging in today's environment to get your message across to your clients is the sheer "overload" that is happening with all of the new and improved technology to market to them 24/7.

The big question is how can you make sure your message is getting through. Here are 5 ways to be sure your message lands and your closing rate improves.

1- The first thing that must happen is "Trust & Rapport" then you will have to identify their needs. If this is not done upfront then you'll objections or possibly a potential client that goes into the witness protection program. Make sure you are building in to all of your conversations "Trust & Rapport" before getting into the next step which is their personal needs. A key distinction when uncovering their personal needs and to know that a satisfied Man or Women will not buy. Therefore, you have to find their pain and provide benefits to them with your product or service.

2- Your sales presentation has to have a structure...if you've ever winged it in a presentation on a call or in your communications you already have proof that winging it leaves money on the table.

3- Know your limits...this simply means that your clients are on overload so don't confuse them with multiple things to consider. Keep your presentation on target and focused with one key thing that you'd like them to take action on. The human brain will go into overload if there are multiple bullet points and items to review and consider.

4- Use pictures and graphs vs. words and numbers. Make it as easy as possible for your clients to understand your offer.

5- Be sure to use testimonials and stories of satisfied clients this is often overlooked and can be a big reason why your clients don't buy from you. Especially in today's environment where social proof has gone wild.

These are just five simple things to keep top of mind when selling to your potential clients or up-selling to existing clients. Remember to think of your sales process as chunks of things that you're doing to move your clients to the next step of the process. Missing an important chunk in the process or going out of order will end up putting you in a position of losing potential sales. The main idea is to never wing it always go in prepared.
