Pathway To Sales Success

June 03, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 161

"Things do not happen. Things are made to happen."John Fitzgerald Kennedy

Getting results is about the choices we make and the effort we are willing to put in to something. There are no shortcuts to success!

I came across this great quote from John F Kennedy recently which made me think about how we get results - "Things do not happen. Things are made to happen."

In some cultures people believe in mystical forces and employ spiritual leaders to provide them with success and wealth.Think about it, people try many different shortcuts and 'magical' fixes to get the results and success they want to achieve.Fast track solutions are all around, tempting us to buy this or that to easily 'fix' our problems with apparently very little time or effort. For example, have you noticed how many ads there are at the moment about weight loss TV shows and fast result diets just after the Christmas New Year festivities?

There is no secret or natural law that helps some but hinders others - no divine intention. Practice and diligence is what makes us great at what we do and will get results. Ask any elite sportsperson or musician, business leader or scientist and they would agree.

There is no replacement for persistence, hard work and effort. To achieve great results we need to work at it.Let's face it the things we are often most proud of in our lives are the things we have focused our attention and effort towards.

Are you willing to put the work in to your career or your business? In business, as in sport, we need to continuously practice the skills we need to compete. Whether that is sales, communication or any other skill you need to be good at it for you and/or your team to achieve the results you want.

Success is available to anyone if they are willing to put in the time and effort. It is available to everyone and short cuts are not the answer.

  • It's why some people choose to work harder than the next person.
  • It's why some people choose to keep learning and are not satisfied to kick back once they 'know it all'.
  • It's about not giving up when others do and going the extra mile.
  • Another former US President, Thomas Jefferson said "I'm a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work, the more I have of it."The problem is that luck alone is not enough and one in a million can rely on luck alone to provide for their future - winning the lotto is a prime example.
