Use RSS to Increase Your Page Ranking

December 02, 2011 | Comments: 0 | Views: 99

Crafting an RSS-based strategy to improve your page rank, and therefore boost your website's traffic is not only possible but also highly recommended. Sites that update frequently increase their chances to get indexed regularly, and this action translates in organic traffic, this is, visitors that naturally go to your website after typing a keyword query.

However your site must be within the first ten results for better results, and this is only possible when your page rank is in good standing. Gain page rank or improve the existent is not that hard, just keep in mind these steps.

Firstly, make a checklist and review carefully these points. Is your website's content available via RSS? If your answer is affirmative, make sure to know if your website has been developed over a platform capable to ping the RSS news services, essential to keep search engines updated about newly added or changed content.

If your website is not RSS-ready, you may either migrate its actual format to a software platform with Really Simple Syndication enabled, or hire a developer to implement RSS feeds into your actual web design, format and coding. This is necessary if you want to use RSS for page rank and many other purposes.

Once that you are sure to have RSS enabled on your site, analyze your distribution strategy. The first thing to do is pinging the update services. Some publishing systems like WordPress have a default service that is called automatically when content within your site is added or modified. In addition, this and other software allow to ping manually by adding the URL of the updating services, usually in a field that appears in the bottom of the edition page or clicking a link.

If pinging is not available through your own site's script, make a list of websites offering free and paid online pinging services and submit your feeds as soon as any change occurs on your website. If your site has little content or it is not updated frequently, consider the inclusion of third-party syndicated content.

The are many websites that expressly allow webmasters to grab their updates to reproduce them on their own. Just be careful and do not overuse this service to prevent search engine penalization for duplicate content. Encourage your visitors to subscribe to your updates and keep a balance between internal and external feeds. This will surely help you boost your page rank faster than you expect.
