San Antonio is one of the oldest cities in the country. Colonized in the early 1700′s, this beautiful city has preserved many of its historic structures. Check out the King William Historic District for a taste of history and some great food.

After touring the old homes in this historic area, be sure to work up a good appetite and stop by one of the best restaurants in San Antonio: The Guenther House. This restaurant is in an elegant home built in the 1800's and is well known to locals and a few tourists for its delicious food.

Next, you will be treated to foccacia bread with a white bean spread prepared with red pepper flakes, adding a nice kick. Try the cod with tomatoes, olives and cippolini onions. It's a dish you'll dream about. End the night with the famous Nutella tart dessert or melt-in-your-mouth cannolis covered in chocolate and filled with wonderful fresh ricotta.

Another one of the best restaurants in San Antonio is Restaurant Gwendolyn. The produce is grown locally and prepared by hand - no food processors or other electronic devices. You have a choice of a three or five course meal. Starting off with homemade bread and butter sets the mood for what you can expect: great food. The amuse bouche is prepared with homemade ricotta, fried, and topped with lavender and honey. The salads are delicious and the homemade dressing is so good you'll want to take it home. The staff pays attention to detail and you'll feel like you're the only one in the restaurant.

Biga On the Banks is another one of San Antonio's finest. Try the apple smoked salmon or ahi tuna nachos for starters. They're unforgettable. The decor is exceptional with tables strategically placed to take advantage of gorgeous river views. The menu changes often as the items are planned according to fresh ingredients. The Foie Gras served on banana bread is out of this world. As one of the best restaurants in San Antonio, dress appropriately and reservations are suggested.
