Best of 5280 - Downtown Denver Style

Denver, (the Mile High City-5280 feet above sea level) the largest city of Colorado, sits on the Great Plains only twelve miles away from the beautiful Rocky Mountains. Denver is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. This modern city which is home to the nation's second largest arts complex, countless galleries, and home to dozens of great outdoor festivals, is also one of the cleanest and safest cities in the U.S. Getting around in downtown Denver is easy, as we have a free shuttle at the 16th Street Mall (a mile long stretch that has over 300 shops and 50 restaurants). In addition to the shuttle, you can take Pedicabsâ„¢, taxis, horse carriages or you can walk. Here are some of the exciting things you can do in Downtown Denver.

Once a year, restaurants in Denver, capitalize on our altitudinal claim to fame by offering two gourmet meals for the discounted price of $52.80, excluding tax and gratuity. Denver is a city rich in culture and history so you will find restaurants to fit almost any mood or theme. This year's 5280 Restaurant Week is set to go from February 25th to March 9th. Besides the "Mile High City" moniker, Denver is also known as "Suds City." Home of the Great American Beer Festival, Denver brews more beer per capita than any other U.S. city. Visitors from around the world can sample over 2500 different beers during the festival. Each brewery in the city has its own distinct personality, brewing incredibly tasty beer. Last year, over 23,000,000 barrels of beer were produced in Colorado so I think we have a brew for you!

Because of great diversity in Denver, you will find an exciting nightlife scene here. Check out the exciting nightlife of the LoDo (Lower Downtown) area of Denver and Larimer Square. Have a few drinks and then get ready for some kicking music at one of downtown's hip dance clubs. Even the street corners are alive with "busquing" street musicians who entertain for a few extra bucks.

Denver has a lot to offer in terms of shopping. You can go to the Pavilions mall, Tabor center, or the high-end Cherry Creek Mall. Take the free shuttle on 16th street pedestrian mall to find places unique to Denver such as Rockmount ranch wear, souvenir shops and the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. Cherry Creek hosts high-end retailers such as Neiman Marcus, Tiffany & Co. and Godiva Chocolates.

Some of the best attractions of 5280 are found in Downtown Denver. Rich with museums and art galleries, downtown is home to the Denver Performing Arts Complex, the Wells Fargo Concert Theatre, Coors Field, Pepsi Center, Sports Authority Field, the Colorado Convention Center, the State capitol building and more.
