February 28, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 180

A large number of people love to own a pet. These pets can either be the common ones or a more rare type. Regardless of the type of pet you select it is important to note that they all need the right kind of care. Out of the different types of pets available for your selection, the bearded dragon is a highly suitable choice even for children due to the fact that they are known to be quite fascinating. They have a life span of about 10 years therefore you should be prepared and completely dedicated throughout this period of time.

Like most other pets it is important for you to carry out extensive research which will help you gain the necessary information regarding the kind of care they require as well as their living conditions. The initial step in how to set up comfortable living conditions for a bearded dragon should be to ensure that this reptile has plenty of space to walk around, run and also play. It is therefore necessary for you to make sure that you can provide suitable accommodation before you buy a bearded dragon. A typical sized enclosure usually measures about 42 inches in length and 24 inches wide. These enclosures can either be bought or constructed from scratch by you.

Another important factor that needs to be taken into consideration when coming up with a suitable environment for your bearded dragon is the provision of a suitable lighting system. The main reason for this is because these reptiles need to live in an area with an optimum temperature. The ideal temperature levels usually range anywhere between 20 and 35 degrees Celsius. By keeping the temperatures within the set limits, you will enable your pet to live comfortably throughout. A suitable lighting system is one which has the capability to support the fluorescent as well as the incandescent light. You should also ensure that your pet also enjoys adequate lighting during the day which will also serve as a good source of heat.

Location is also quite important. The area where you set up the enclosure should not be too windy neither should it be too hot. This specific pet is known to love hiding; you should therefore include some logs and rocks into the enclosure. The woods and rocks will provide the perfect hiding positions whenever they feel threatened. As previously stated, these animals are fun creatures and they will therefore need various play items in order to keep themselves entertained.

Your pet would also need to have access to the right kinds of foods at all times. This you can do by strategically placing an insect as well as a water bowl within its living area. This particular type of pets are known to feed on live foods. You will therefore require a good amount of crickets and other types of bugs.

By providing your pet with the right kind of care and environment, you will help to keep it healthy and comfortable.
