What the Resurrection Means to Me

April 23, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 184

Easter Sunday - the day we celebrate the greatest event in human history! I have set out below some reasons as to why the resurrection is such good news. We celebrate the cross and rightly so, but if Jesus had not been resurrected, our faith would be useless, we would be hopeless. But praise God JESUS IS ALIVE!!

Some benefits of Christ's resurrection are as follows:

1. Jesus proves He does what He says He is going to do!

Because of the resurrection we can be sure that what he said about Himself and His claims are true When they came together in Galilee, he said to them, "The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men. They will kill him, and on the third day he will be raised to life." (Matthew 17:22-23)

2. We have the forgiveness of all our sins!

The penalty for sin has been paid for us by Jesus And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. (1 Corinthians 15:17-18)

3. We have victory over the power of sin!

This means we do not have to sin. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is now in us. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin- because anyone who has died has been freed from sin. (Romans 6:6-7)

4. We have new life

We have been 'born again' into a new life And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you. (Romans 8:11)

5. We have God given authority over Satan and his demons

Because Jesus is in us and defeated Satan, we can resist him and tell him to flee because Jesus is in us. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven." (Luke 10:19-20)

6. We have eternal life!

This means we get to live with Jesus in His kingdom forever. This should keep you going through any "light and momentary affliction" (2 Corinthians 4 v 17) But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. (1 Corinthians 15:20-24)

7. We have hope for each day!

As well as the hope to come, we can also live each day of our lives in hope. We walk each day with the resurrected Jesus inside us. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead (1 Peter 1:3)

8. We can experience healing now

Jesus said we could do the same miracles as he did, in fact he said we could do even greater miracles because He is going to the father and will send the Holy Spirit.(John 14 v 12)

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. (Isaiah 53 v 5)

There are loads more benefits to Jesus' resurrection, it would be good to consider these whether it is Easter Sunday or not and thank Jesus for what he has won for you. Feel free to add your comments for what the resurrection means for you.
