Lawyers, Lawsuits, Unions, Consumers Online, and Instant Information - Do We Need Regulations?

April 01, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 119

It just blows me away some times all the regulations that our government produces each and every year. However what burns me up most of all is when our government says it's trying to reduce regulations, and can only come up with six regulations throughout all of its agencies and all industries to get rid of. That's just insane. We have OSHA laws which are 56 stories tall, that is; if you are to stack them on top of each other, and yet we have an executive branch in our federal government which says that every one of those is needed to protect workers - that's just baloney.

Indeed, I'm not even sure if we need regulations anymore, and let me explain why. If a company does something wrong, it's all over the Internet the next day, it's on every social networking site, and twittered to 10 to 15 million people in a single afternoon. As soon as the outrage public hears of all this, it detracts from the hard-earned brand name of the corporation. The e-consumer has far more power than they ever did before.

Next, consider if you will all the lawsuits which go on. If a company does anything wrong, they will find themselves slapped with a lawsuit faster than you can say; "Obama's birth certificate is real." If the lawyers are financially penalizing companies which do anything wrong, or which are even suspected of negligence, or any misdeed, then why do we need regulators? There are so many lawyers now, many of them looking for work, that they are out suing up a storm just to make ends meet.

Also, consider if you will all the power that the unions have in our nation. If the company does anything which upsets the unions, they go on strike or they hire lawyers to sue. Unions also engage in mass media propaganda which also hurts the brand name of the company. Corporations, entrepreneurs, and even small businesses are very careful to tiptoe these days if they don't want to land themselves in the mass media for something that didn't go just quite right.

All of this mass of information flow prevents companies from getting away with any shenanigans. Interestingly enough, when the media starts trashing on a company, or when some negative publicity goes viral, all the suddenly the regulatory bodies are out in full force looking into the situation. By that time the company has already paid with a damaged image and reputation, lost sales, and what have you, so at that point why does the regulatory agency need to sue them or levy expensive fines on the company? Perhaps you can understand my point here. I ask that you please consider all this and think on it.
