Gluten Free Food Grocery Stores

Gluten is a protein found mainly in wheat and barley. It is used as a thickening agent in ice creams, ketchups and as a stabilizing agent. It is one that does not include food products containing gluten. This diet is the only treatment for coeliac disease. Coeliac disease refers to the disorder of the small intestine. The few symptoms of this disease are weight loss or failure to gain weight, abdominal pain, and diarrhea; coeliac disease may also occur without any symptoms. It contains a harmless amount of gluten rather than its complete absence. This exact level of harmless gluten is still unknown. People inclined towards a gluten free diet should keep in mind that lip sticks, lip balms may also contain gluten.

Several grains and starch form the gluten free diet. The popular ones are potatoes, rice and tapioca. Pure buckwheat, gram flour derived from chick peas are accepted gluten free food products. This diet is inclusive of fresh fruits, vegetables, meat and dairy products. Many food stores provide alcoholic beverages best suited for those with coeliac disease, provided coloring and other additives are absent. Bread a staple food of many across the world, is prepared using wheat which contains gluten. However, gluten free bread is also available; they are made using ground flours and may not be very fluffy.

Gluten free diets are definitely becoming very popular. Many celebrities and professional athletes prefer them. Being hyped as a measure to increase energy, lose weight and tackle certain health issues, gluten free food stores are experiencing an all time high. However there is no evidence to promote the above utilities. Since this diet is low in fiber, due to the exclusion of wheat, dropping gluten from one's diet without expert advice is not recommended. In less than five years the sale of food free from gluten has multiplied beyond expectation. People are more conscious of their lifestyle than ever before, they are ready to adopt any means to remain healthy and fit.

Presence of many food stores in all parts of the world has paved the way for easy access to these products. It is possible for diet conscious and coeliac diseased people to avail everything they want from these quality outlets. With these food products being added to the market repeatedly, new manufacturers stepping into this field, the price of these products could considerably reduce. An overwhelming variety of products could lead to saturation of this market.
