Dairy-Free Recipes

February 24, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 173

Everywhere signs crowd the roadways announcing the great benefits of drinking milk. Celebrities advertise by flashing milk mustaches to enhance the lure to purchase and drink more. Isn't this how bones retain their strength and osteoporosis is avoided? With all of the advertisement and food guide pyramid recommendations for milk intake, how does one who has dairy allergies compensate for their inability to consume milk? It all begins with a plan to incorporate new recipes. All natural dairy-free recipes such as chicken alfredo, smoothies, and chocolate cake can be on tonight's menu.

A great dairy free recipe for dinner tonight is chicken alfredo. What? Isn't that completely milk based? In a traditional setting it is, but this recipe has been tweaked to meet the needs of those with allergies. No more congestion or intestinal issues with this main course. It is a mouth-watering dish that will leave those eating it saying, "Wow!" Those who do not have problems will not even be able to detect a difference. The key to this dish is coconut milk and the correct blend of spices. Rice and almond milk just do not give a creamy texture and the flavor is lacking. All of the ingredients that are contained in this recipe are coconut milk, chicken, broccoli, thyme, oregano, pepper, sea salt, noodles, cornstarch, and water.

A fabulous dairy free recipe to go along with the chicken alfredo is a smoothie. What? Aren't smoothies supposed to contain milk? Well, that might be a common misconception, since realistically recipes can be tweaked to fit individual needs. Smoothies can be completely fruit based and very delightful to the palate. Yes, they do not need any sugar added to be wonderfully sweet. This particular smoothie contains orange juice, peaches, strawberries, and blackberries. If the main course hasn't already filled in all of the cracks, then this surely will do the job.

If that is not enough to complete dinner, then the scrumptious dairy free chocolate cake recipe ought to do the trick. It is disappointing to think that it is commonly considered that cakes have to have milk in them to be delicious. That is another misconception. Magnificent cakes and frostings can be made with merely water, which is a kitchen sink away. That is definitely an ingredient that will never run out. The ingredients that make this recipe so appetizing are whole wheat pastry flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, water, olive oil, and vanilla. Once this is baked to perfection, water based cocoa frosting drizzled on top completes it. This is absolutely scrumptious and will fulfill the craving for a dessert.

With the dairy free recipes of chicken alfredo, smoothies, and chocolate cake, there will be no more drudgery in the kitchen. Forget the billboards and the advertisements that scream milk is everything and be open to the endless opportunities that wait those willing to experiment with other foods. There are many substitutions that can replace milk and it all depends on personal preference and individual circumstances. So, pull out the pans, bowls, measuring cups, and spoons and have fun cooking a scrumptious feast!
