Understanding the Moon Card

February 26, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 222

There are many tools of divination available to those who wish to seek them out, but one of the most Iconic and easy to learn is the deck of Tarot. In beginning to understand Tarot, there are four suits: swords, cups, wands and pentacles, as well as Major Arcana, iconic cards that have a whole different series of meanings in the deck and are universally considered the more important part of the deck. In continuing study of the Major Arcana, next is the 18 Card, The Moon.

The final point of the seeking querent, the Moon is the moment of decision for the Seeker, the turning point wherein one must use their instinct and intuition to really move forward. During this phase, what seems like the truth and what seems like an illusion can often be misleading, so it is important that intuition leads the way. The Moon card is also a symbol of reflection between your intellectual self and your creative self. When this card appears in a tarot reading, this is the classic representation of cause and effect, and our actions will result in a choice to either move forward or to remain the same.

In a Tarot reading, the Moon card is a warning of illusion, confusion, fantasies and deception. You could be feeling anxious or have mood swings. Your path ahead might be filled with uncertainty or darkness, where you aren't sure what your next move needs to be, but only because knowledge you need hasn't come to the surface yet. Symbolism around your current situation will be important as well. When the Moon card appears, it's time to consider your past behaviours and decide whether or not they are representative of who you are now. Always look at your gut feelings, your intuitions and your dreams when you see the Moon card in a reading. The key words to consider with the upright Moon card are as follows: intuition, dreaming, illusions, confusion, darkness, mystery, and the subconscious.

When the Moon card appears reversed, or ill-dignified in a Tarot reading, then this is a symbol that you need to come back to the proverbial light, and follow your intuition. If you're having a difficult time with your relationship, friendships, or a particular situation, then you need to focus on your spiritual intuition and connection so that you can achieve your goals. If you're looking for new perspectives or a dose of clarity, then this card will tell you to take your time and not make any quick major decisions. Once you've had time to really examine a situation, then you can look to making decisions. Also, when the card is reversed, it is a sign that your subconscious conflicts and dark impulses may need addressing and have stopped you from moving forward. The key words for the reversed Moon card tarot card are as follows: deception, secrets, deep, subconscious fears, a misunderstanding, and not following your own intuition.
