Take Charge Of Your Day Once And For All

April 19, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 150

As an entrepreneur everything that happens in your business involves you - from the back office to the front office. So how do you get away from being the center of everything and get "rid" of the busy work?

Create systems for EVERYTHING, delegate, and take control of your time.

Create Systems

Whether you are a new entrepreneur or been in business for 10 years it is not too late to create systems. As a matter of fact if you want to grow your business you must create systems for everything. These systems need to go from being in your head to being stored in a central location. This will be make it easier for you to delegate.

If you are having trouble figuring out how to create your systems, start with activities that you do on a frequent basis.

Your systems should be

  • In place that someone else can access
  • Include all necessary passwords, resources necessary for completion
  • Approximate amount of time to complete

Here is an example of a system for your newsletter:

  1. Yearly - Create topics for each month
  2. Monthly - Break each topic down into specific topics for each week that you will have a newsletter
  3. Friday - Write article for next week's newsletter (or hire a copywriter)
  4. Be sure to include upcoming events
  5. Find pictures for newsletter
  6. Have two people from your team proofread by mid-day Tuesday.
  7. Schedule newsletter to be released for Wednesday 8am

Once you begin creating systems, delegating will become a breeze. You will be able create a job description based off your systems. For instance, if you decide to delegate your newsletter, it will be easier for you to say "I would like to have someone who has worked with email marketing, can help research topics, understands the flow of a newsletter, and is detail oriented.

Take Control of Your Time

Before your day begins, plan what you will accomplish by the end of your day. Keep in mind that if you do not do this other people or other things will dictate how your day goes.

Know your priorities. If your goal is to get more clients - being on Facebook is not going to get you closer to that goal but writing on article or following up on potential customer leads will.

FINALLY - Be willing to say NO to things that do fit into what you need to accomplish.

What will you do today to take charge of your day - Once and for all?
