Balance Is an Art: Four Tips to Move Forward From a Divorce

January 28, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 139

1. The important thing is YOU

Over the past year just before your separation or divorce, you were occupied or preoccupied with children, spouse and other responsibilities. While you still have some responsibilities to tend to right now, they're not the same as pre-divorce. You are not the same person that you were in your marriage. It's now time to make your number one priority you, then the rest will fall in place. This doesn't imply that you need to forget about your other duties, it simply means that the attention will be on you, them, and others. What will that mean to you? " I am a new and important being"

2. Balance is an Art

More than likely the absence of balance is one of the reasons you got separated or divorced to begin with. Your life is completely different now and without learning how to juggle the different parts of your life you can easily end up with broken body parts and spirit. You've got you, possibly your children, your work space and your play space to juggle. Set some time aside for each of these important aspects of your life, learn to say no to other things that are not as important and add a bit more art to your life " I am living a balanced and art-filled life"

3. One new thing at a time

Don't jump the gun on anything new. All to often newly separated people jump into something new right away; new car, new job, new partner, To many new things leads to a very old you fairly quickly. Take it one step at a time and one new thing at a time. Get to know the one person you'll be living with for the rest of your life, YOU. Believe me, you'll have plenty of time for new things later. "I am enjoying discovering who I am"

4. Learn the lesson.

While you're rediscovering you and making balance a priority, take some time to reflect on the opportunities you've just been given and the lessons that you've learned. For one reason or another life didn't turnout as you thought it would be and I'm sure that you have learned a lesson or two along the way. Life is about learning your lessons well, sharing your wisdom and getting ready to slowly transition into the next phase of your life. "I am designing a new life and cultivating a more confident me."
