I Like Myself

April 18, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 86

Being kind, thoughtful and loving towards other people is universally thought of as being the right thing to do and a pretty good way to live your life.

When, for whatever reason or reasons you don't feel good about yourself and suffer the emotions of unworthiness or low self-esteem, then there is little or no energy left for you to give out to the other people who you might live with or who you come into contact with throughout your life.

Before you can ever begin to express and give positive loving feelings to anyone else, you must first have these same thoughts and feelings directed inwardly toward the person within.

You give to everyone else the excess or the overflow of any emotional good that you have inside of you. It's really essential to like yourself a lot, first and foremost.

If your own personal internal battery or power cell is flat or badly depleted, then there is no possibility of even starting your own engine or let alone offering your assistance to jump start someone else's broken down motor.

It's just the same with your own personal energy and how you really feel. Being good to yourself and loving who you are begins with accepting who you are, warts and all, in whatever situation that might find yourself in right now.

Everyone experiences emotional knocks and scrapes and collects plenty of scars and bruises along the way. That's just a fact of life, and the amount of lasting damage that these emotional blows inflict really depends on how much you're willing to hold onto.

The more stuff you hold onto the more excess baggage you carry along This often results in feelings of resentment that can be turned inwards and is a very effective way to reduce your self esteem and lower your feel good factor.

Usually the more praise and encouragement that you receive from the people you most often interact with, then the better you feel towards yourself. This has the effect of trickle charging your internal battery with a steady stream of positive inputs.

Often, due to a whole host of circumstances, this vital feedback path is missing from your everyday life as there seems to be nobody around to appreciate what you do.

You can however make a rapid start to liking yourself more for who you are and where you are right now in life by a little bit of healthy self praise. Looking at all of the positive achievements and success stories you've been a part of is a great place to start.

Praise yourself often for all of these episodes no matter how small and trivial they might seem, this will do nothing but build you up emotionally from the inside out.

With little practice you'll always have something good to remember and reflect back on, making it easy for you to say I like myself.
