Rebuilding Broken Pieces

When a woman has gone through the storm of a life time, and then the worse inconceivable things still happen to her that is difficult to live through. Mary Ann Harring-Duhart comes home to find her husband is leaving. She is left with her sons and has to feed and clothed them. Boys require certain things that friends have. Mary was not left any money by her husband. She was left to earn it and pay the bills that were owed.

In the world today, it is most difficult to get through these times. How does she manage? With God by her side, Harring-Duhart explains in beautiful poetic forms how she overcomes the difficult parts of life.

In her poem 'Walking by Faith' a form called 'Shari's Fold Time,' You become sadden that she holds so much hurt in her heart and begs the Lord for His help. She lays he burdens down to Him.

She uses the title of her book in the poem 'I Refuse to Stay There.' She uses the line "On broken pieces sweat and tears I now write" to explain that eve through the pain she will win this battle. This poem is created in the 'American Bardette Sonnet.'

Using the 'Kyrielle' style of poetry, Mary asks God to help her not complain. She has tears flowing as she explains that walking down memory lane is not an easy thing for her to do.

In her poem 'Finding Relief,' done in the 'Hotan/Doditsu' combination, she says that even when you don't understand; place it all in God's hand.

She is most determined with His help she will make it. Mary Ann works hard and still does for others. She told me a story of going to get some food from a food bank when she desperately needed it for Christmas. A woman appeared and the food bank had just closed. She was crying out, "What will I do?"

Mary shared her groceries and made do on a not so fancy dinner with her boys. That sums up a good person.

Harring-Duhart always has something to write about, that is certain. A complicated life always has words to put into poetry. Writing can help heal. I have experienced that and seen it help others.

This book will show you the strength that Mary Ann gets from God. You will feel her strong will and it can carry you through the broken pieces of your own life.

This amazing book has a full glossary to explain the forms used in the book. There are one hundred and fifty-seven pages to hold your interest.
