Installing A Bath Into Your Bathroom Suite

April 12, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 476

As many people want to revamp their bathrooms, the need for knowledge on how to fit the key components such as baths, basin and toilets are increasing. What the majority of bathrooms require is a bath, and installing one is not as hard as you may think, as long as you follow some reasonably simple steps. If you have decided to put your new bath in a different place to your existing one or one that you have removed already, you will need to alter the pipe work accordingly. It is vitally important to do this before you put the bath in place too.

Before you begin, you will need to carefully plan how you are going to carry out this task. You will need to install any new pipe work, as well as measuring the pipe and bath waste locations, marking them clearly on the wall for future reference. In some cases, you will need to install new 8 inch supply pipes or alternatively add spurs to the existing pipe runs. Doing this before installing the bath will make the connection of the bath taps or bath shower mixer tap much easier, saving you a lot of time and effort.

Once you have your pipe work sorted, it is time to attach the feet to the bottom of your new bath. To do this, you will have to turn your bath upside down whilst keeping it in its packaging to avoid any scratches or damages. The way in which you install your bath feet will depend on the style of both the bath and the feet. On a more traditional bath with claw style feet, the feet are easily fitted onto the designated areas using the bolts that will have been provided. Some baths will require a supporting frame, and it is crucial that you fit this before the bath is fully installed. Some feet may be attached using an adhesive pad that is attached to it. It is also really important that the feet are installed in the correct position to ensure the bath is secure and sturdy as possible. Some feet are adjustable so if you are working with an uneven floor, they can be changed to suit your situation.

Next you must fit the taps, waste and overflow before the bath is firmly in place. Many baths accept a combined waste and over flow unit, but it is crucial that you ensure these are correctly fitted before your bath is fully installed. It is then time to carry out some final checks, for example ensuring your bath is level, then creating a water tight seal to finish the installation perfectly.
