How to Write Philosophy Articles Online

February 13, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 194

The greatest thing about writing philosophical articles is that you are thinking while you're writing, and often you will come to a new understanding in the process. Therefore, it makes sense to enjoy the process as you are compiling your thoughts and putting them into online articles. Now then, there are so many ways to structure philosophical articles, ones which will capture your reader's attention, and really get them to think. After all that is the goal right? Okay so, let's talk about this for a moment shall we?

Sometimes it makes sense to start with an abrupt statement, shaking the core of your readers belief system. Then from there you take them into your argument using philosophy and logic, to help them understand a different perspective, or to shake their reality. Those are some of the enjoyable articles to produce. You might also start with a question, after all, there is a branch of psychology and philosophy which states that everything starts with a question. Then there are the rather dry and boring articles which are merely factual statements of past period philosophers, their names, and what they stated, or what they meant by what they said and wrote.

Indeed, I would submit to you that the more dry academic articles can be shape shifted in such a way that they pique the curiosity of the reader, and they need not be boring. Now then, let me tell you how I like to write online articles having to do with philosophical thoughts and perspectives. I like to start with a story, or perhaps a misconception about a popular famous quote, or illogical political, religious, or preconceived notion. I enjoy ripping it apart, and then presenting it to the reader for their review.

There is nothing like challenging the status quo with a little philosophy, it's good for humans to ask questions of authority, their belief systems, and that which they believe to be true, but in actuality has no basis to call it truth. Over the past six years, I've written hundreds of articles on this topic, and I've watched which ones get comments, voted highly, or cause the reader to actually contact me to continue the discussion. It seems the ones that challenge our belief systems, or ask a question publicly get folks thinking a lot faster than the dry and boring textbook type articles.

Thus, if you are going to write articles in this category you should be thinking here, and add in modern day events, firsthand accounts, and present period perspectives. Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.
