How to Philosophically Handle the Reality that AI Computers Are Smarter Than You

February 13, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 201

As the coordinator for a high powered intellectual think tank, I cannot believe how much poor thinking goes on with human beings somehow believing that that human intelligence will never be surpassed by artificial intelligence. To me it all sounds so "species centric" almost as if a collective denial of the technology and ethno-centric delusion. Okay so, let's talk about all this.

Right now, humans are training the thinking machines of the future, these AI systems will be so powerful and interconnected "it" will become self-aware, and IT will dominate every aspect of human life. Now then, that is the inevitable future, and the way things are going, we are traveling down that track like a high-speed train and accelerating. Okay so, as this future unfolds how will humans adapt, will they be okay with being ruled over by the machines that they themselves created, but did not intend to ever grow that powerful.

This might be a slow water-boiling transition, but it doesn't have to end like "Skynet" in the Terminator Series. To philosophically make this transition we must understand a few things. First, let's consider human history, and human leaders running our societies, kingdoms, civilizations, dynasties, and nations. Well, it hasn't been all that pretty has it. Further, all that sound and fury isn't slowing down, which is disconcerting here in the year 2012 - just look at the State of Humanity on this pale blue dot today - it leaves a little bit to be desired doesn't it?

Perhaps, the innovation of artificially intelligent computers will solve many of the problems mankind has created by taking human decision making out of the equation. Perhaps, all of the mistakes made previously, made the prior by way of Machiavellian strategies of men serving their will upon the masses, and the mobs of humanity rioting and destroying what they've built can be eliminated in this new future.

So, rather than feeling weak and insignificant against the AI computers of the future, it would be much wiser to think of it as an extension of humanity, and philosophically consider that "IT" is you, it's part you and the reason IT is so smart, is because "we" created it all. When you look at it in that regards, then you can see that it is a great achievement, thus, not to worry that your ego has been shattered and that the human mind is not as powerful as once thought - in fact, now the extended human mind is the most powerful intelligence of all. Indeed, I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.
