There are several attractions very near the holiday cottages too. If you want to visit the moors during your dog friendly holidays so here are some places that would interest you.

Dartmeet

Dartmeet is named so because it is located right in the centre of the moor where the west and east branches of the River Dart meet. This would be an ideal place to have a picnic with your family during your dog friendly holidays. The grassy banks near the river have old trees which provide it with a good shade thus making it an ideal place for having a picnic. There is also a lush deep wooded valley which makes the place even cooler. If you want cross the river, you can do so using the clapper bridge. Make sure you get the chance to have pack a picnic basket at your self-catering holiday cottages or buy some food at the nearby restaurants or cafes.

Dartmoor National Park

Dartmoor National Park is one of the most well known places in Dartmoor. This would be a great park to visit together with your family during your dog friendly holidays as there are so many things that you can do at the park. You can opt to just relax at the park or you can engage in some action-filled adventures. The park is a great place to have a family picnic too. You can also go hiking and explore the vast moorland where you are sure to see some of the amazing wildlife. Or opt to hike up to 621 meters above sea level which is the highest point at Dartmoor National Park.

Another activity that the Dartmoor National Park is popular for is star gazing. The clear night sky of Dartmoor makes this possible. This is one thing that you will not be able to do in the city so spend some quiet moments just gazing up at the stars while you are in Dartmoor National Park at night. Just make sure you bring blankets and some hot drinks to take away the chills. There are a lot more that you can do at Dartmoor National Park so make sure that this place is part of your itinerary during your dog friendly holidays.
