Be, Do, Have - The Number 1 Secret To Success That Nobody Will Ever Tell You

The self help industry is built on many myths. One of these myths is that if you think about something long enough and you do this in an enthusiastic manner the universe will shower you with riches.

Others in the self help industry have realized that this is not a viable tactic and that you have to actually do something to create changes in your circumstances. They suggest goal setting, creating milestones and measuring your progress so that you know how well you're doing in relation to getting those goals. When combined with the enthusiasm from the first tactic it does increase your chances of success.

What is missing though is the part that makes it easier to get any goal or outcome. If you observe successful people whose results you want to reproduce you would probably start by copying their external actions and yet this is not the whole story. By copying some else's actions you can greatly increase your chances of copying their results but the secret to true success lies inside of you.

There is a term used in NLP or neuro-linguistic programming called congruence. What this means, in simple terms is that everything you think, say and do is aligned with your values. Every aspect of your being is totally aligned and in tune with every other aspect of you. This includes the physical, emotional psychological and spiritual parts of your life. This congruence is the secret key to true success.

Success can be defined as not only getting what you want but also wanting what you get. If you think about that last statement you may become aware that many of the things that you want so that you are successful are not truly aligned with your deepest core values. Values are what you use to decide what is important to you before you take an action and also what you use to measure those actions by once it is completed.

In neuro-linguistic programming we teach people how to align their lives and their goals with their deepest values around every area of their life. This includes their health because to achieve great things you need to have a healthy body and an alert mind. The values you have for your health also affect the values you may have for your relationships. For instance if your goals include becoming a marathon runner and your partner is a couch potato with no health goals at all it stands to reason that you will not get a lot of support for your aspirations.

These are just a few examples of how you need to be aligned internally. There are other aspects that may also prevent you from achieving the things that you want to. In the past you may have made decisions that limit you now because of an event or a trauma or even as a result of cultural conditioning.

Whatever you may think it is that is holding you back from having what you want in life it is probably not external. The reality of the situation is that you will probably not get different results by being the same person that you are now, unless of course you have already made the changes that are necessary.

To get different outcomes to the ones that you are getting now take some time out. Find a place where you can work without being disturbed. Turn off your TV, take the phone off of the hook, turn off your cell phone. Relax by breathing and being aware of your breathing and ask your self this question.

What do I really want to have in my life that will fulfill me?

Now write down everything that comes into your head. Make a list of all of your goals. Now what you can do is to put a star next to all of the ones that you have the resources to do. Once you have done this put a second star next to everything that you can do in the next thirty days.

Here is the secret and it is in two parts. The first part is that you only do the things that have two stars next to them. The second part is to consider who do you have to be to get those things done. What does that person think about what they're doing? How do they feel about it? Are they enthusiastic and out there or are they more academic and detached? You will have to work this bit out for yourself as every situation and every goal is different.

While this article can only give you an overview of the processes involved I am confident that you can understand enough about the concepts to be able to give them a try.

Now there are no more excuses available to you. You have made your list of what you want and identified those things you can do in the next thirty days. You also know who you have to be to get those things done. Just go and do it and start to enjoy your success sooner.
