Want to Have an Indoor Picnic?

April 06, 2012 | Comments: 0 | Views: 172

Why can't a picnic be indoors? Yes, most people prefer to be enjoying their picnics outdoors but that's not always possible. What if one or more family members are under the weather? Why cancel your fun? You can always choose to have your picnic inside.

We have some great ideas for having your picnic indoors.

Whatever the reason you are indoors for the picnic, it can be just as much fun as it would be if it was being held outdoors. The fun starts by setting the scene. Will the setting be a picnic on the beach or a family picnic in the park?

You can choose.

Start by clearing a space in the middle of the room that you will be using for your picnic. Choose the room in your home that is the most ideal, it may be the living room, family room or den. Spread out a big blanket for everyone to sit on.

If you were pretending to be at the beach, each person would have their own blanket or towel to sit on.

In the beach setting you would have bathing suits, sand and umbrellas. Since you are indoors, participants may want to opt for shorts instead of swimsuits, but you can still have the rest more or less. You could spread buckets, sand toys, shovels and plastic seashells around the room.

Display large colorful sun pictures on your walls to liven up your picnic even if it is raining outside.

An indoor picnic can also be an intimate occasion as well. You know when the kids are small you might not be able to get away for an outdoor picnic. Wait until they are asleep and steel away into the living room for a romantic picnic for two.

Some examples of setting the scene for a romantic picnic indoors include using candlelight to set the mood instead of the setting sun or playing a CD of ocean sounds to replicate the beach.

One advantage of an indoor picnic is the kitchen facilities. It could be spontaneous with whatever you have on hand in the fridge to prepare for your picnic. With the convenience of your kitchen grill your hotdogs, hamburgers, chicken and steak.

Enjoy your picnic and leave the clean up for the next day.

Now think about this there will be no bugs or noise ordinances at your indoor picnic, and you don't have to worry about leaving at sunset.

No one will bother you in your own home so feel free to laugh, sing, play music and have a great time.

Indoor picnics can only be fun because you make the fun. Enjoy it just like an outdoor picnic in the sunshine. Create a party atmosphere and play games. Even at home, somehow, food tastes better when eaten on a blanket.

Give it a try.

If you still wanted to have your picnic outdoors, and the weather is not cooperating, take a drive and have a picnic in your car. Drive to a scenic spot, say the ocean or mountain top; park your car and enjoy the special picnic you've prepared.
