How to Make Money in Network Marketing

Sometimes being in network marketing for a while we tend to lose sight of the promise and end goal. We get caught up in all the marketing hoopla and we lose sight of the true end goal.

Ultimately it comes down to a few things:

You can make immediate income through creating and selling your own products, selling other people's products as an affiliate, signing up people into your primary company, or selling your MLM product to retail customers.

that's the immediate income that you can receive now. Unfortunately, this is what I talk about when I refer to losing sight of the end goal.

You see when people are introduced to network marketing they are typically hooked on the business model because of the promise of more time freedom and residual income with no customer service problems.

But there's a problem here. A disconnect.

Network marketers usually veer onto the wrong path and instead of building and designing their business to reflect this model of more time freedom and residual income with no customer service problems, they undertake activities that actually involve more of their time, less residual income, and more customer service problems.

But why is this? Why get distracted from the main reason you are in network marketing in the first place?

The reason this happens so often in the network marketing industry is because network marketers tend to look for the quick buck. And usually that quick buck involves more direct interaction and more time dedication.

Don't get me wrong. I don't believe networkers should just slack off and expect the money to roll in. What I do expect, and what most don't do, is for networkers to focus on activities which will build residual income because along with that residual income comes the benefits of more time and less customer service problems.

And the key to ultimately reaching that status is BUILDING YOUR TEAM. CREATING LEADERS.

This concept is something not talked about a lot especially in the online MLM world.

All the talk online is about how to get more leads and how to sign more people up.

All that stuff is great.

Leads are the oxygen of your network marketing business. Without them you'd have no people to talk to.

Sign ups are crucial as well because they provide you with immediate income, you are building your downline in the process, and some might even become top income earners.

This, however, defeats the purpose of the whole residual income lifestyle.

Too little emphasis is put on training your downline. Too little emphasis is placed on creating leaders and mentoring people to success.

The only way to build a lasting and growing residual income in network marketing is to create leaders. The true sign of a leader is if they can create other leaders and have them be as great or better than them. Getting followers is the first step, but the true leader makes other leaders.

It doesn't take too many leaders to shoot you to the top of the ranks in your organization either.

In some companies it's more but on average if you can mold 4-5 top producing leaders in your downline you will probably be in the top 5% of your company.

So how do you really make money in network marketing?

The truth is you can take the route of selling your own info products, selling other people's products, or recruiting more people.

Or, you can take the less traveled route and focus the majority of your time on building up the people already in your organization and making leaders out of them helping them grow their businesses and guiding them towards the top.

But what if I'm not a leader yet? What if I don't know how to recruit people? Who am I to speak to these people as if I know what I'm talking about?

If these questions come up for you then I would say you're right. You're not a leader. A true leader has confidence in themselves and their knowledge and abilities that they can train others and make leaders out of them.

If you're having these objections then I suggest you continue to condition your mind. Continue to develop as a leader and eventually build up enough knowledge, experience, and confidence to go out their and start making other leaders.


Stop focusing on getting leads

Stop focusing on recruiting more people

Stop focusing on getting those commissions from your product or affiliate sales

All that stuff is great and essential but focus more on building your team.

Focus on building up your people and training them to become leaders.

Your time spent on training people is the highest form of leverage there is in network marketing. Eventually some of those people will become top producers and you will reap the fruits of all their production because you trained them.

Immediate income is easy to come by. Anybody can make a sale. Only true leaders build strong downlines. Raise your level of thinking and start working towards your residual income.

A few ways to make leaders out of your recruits:

One on One Coaching:

Interact with your team. The more direct the interaction, the more powerful your training will be. how do you think they will listen and focus better: If they are watching a webinar presentation or if they are talking to you one on one?

I know this isn't very leveraged and you do have to do this selectively. If you see some team members of yours producing results and taking action and you see they are motivated and hungry to make it, then I would highly suggest putting them on one on one and rewarding their good behavior with personal time with you.

Weekly webinar/teleconference trainings:

One step removed from the one on one coaching, you can use weekly webinars to reach out to your whole organization and provide valuable training and advice as to how to grow their businesses. With these weekly trainings you will inevitably get some people taking action and producing results. From their you can take those few and work with them one on one like the previous technique.

3 Way Calls:

this is a great way for your downline to piggyback off of your leadership and expertise especially when they are new to this business. This type of personal touch and support from you goes a long way in your downline sticking with you and building the business. When they see you are their to personally help them sponsor people they will feel all the more motivated to go out their and start producing results because they know you will be waiting with more valuable time with them.

Company/industry events:

For the most part only the elite members of your team will join these. I'm talking about the big regional conference events, not just your local weekly meetup. These events are great to see who is truly there to build a business. These events allow you to personally interact with your team and connect even more with them. Exchanging some marketing techniques or throwing in some one on one time with them would also be a good idea.

These are the type of high level activities that eventually yield 6-7 figure residual incomes in this industry. They come from making leaders out of ordinary people and building true, lasting relationships with them. It comes from supporting them and mentoring through this whole process.

Again... anybody can sell an affiliate product or recruit somebody. And I believe those things are essential. But ultimately what grants you the ability to be free and receive residual income every month is duplicating yourself through other leaders.
